Christian Children Falling Victim to America's 'Chaldean' School System

(AgapePress) - A Southern Baptist educator says many Christian parents are fooling themselves by thinking their children can provide "salt and light" in the public school system.
Ed Gamble is executive director of the Southern Baptist Association of Christian Schools. He says a small percentage of students do succeed at being "salt and light" in their public school -- but that far and away, the vast majority only succeed in "just holding their own" and have little impact in their school.
"An awful lot of them are not having an impact on the environment, but the environment's having an impact on them," Gamble explains. "That's most often the case. And we see that by looking at the facts about our students when they come out of this system.
"They do not come out with a Christian worldview and they do not think and act biblically -- and the results are lamentable."
Gamble says because a few Christian students thrive in public schools there is a natural tendency for parents to say "if that one can, mine can." But the Christian educator says many parents have abandoned an important responsibility.
"We are not educating our children. We're handing them over to a secular, humanistic, government-run school system -- a Chaldean school system, if you will -- and expecting to get back Christians educated with a Christian worldview who think and act biblically," he says. "We're idiots if we think that's going to happen."
According to Gamble, it was Albert Einstein who said "doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results is insanity."

We home-schooled our three kids. At the time, we were the only ones in our church doing so on a full-time basis, and we were looked down on by even the ministerial staff who believed that children of Christian families should attend public schools as "salt and light." But that was before the youth pastor at the church had school-aged children of his own. Now his daughters are about to enter junior high, and he's seen the challenges and dangers inherent in public education. He's now supportive of any parents who wish to educate their children at home.

I agree. BTW, wasn't Jesus' call to 'preach the gospel to the ends of the earth' spoken to adults?

Absolutely, right. Also, Jesus himself didn't start his recorded ministry until the age of thirty. We need to make our kids strong before we send them out among the wolves.

Christian parents are commanded to raise
their children in fear and love of the Lord.
Public schools do not teach anyone the
fear and love of the Lord.
In fact they mock Godly faith and
all Godly principles.
As for being a witness God is always
carefull to PREPARE his witnesses
before they do his work.
You cannot expect children to go off
in a pagan world and be witnesses.
You raise them and prepare them
and then they go in.
Esp. bad for church leaders to
send their children to public
school Pastors are to rule their
households in good order.
Sending their children to Satan
is not ruling your house in good order.
I might ad to that along with sending
children to public schools often
comes worldly dating instead of
Christian courting.
And is really just part of the Fathers
failing to assert Godly authority in
the home.
The Father's duty is to the spiritual
head of the household and to protect
his wife and children.
Sending kids to public schools
is huge failure to protect.

Now his daughters are about to enter junior high Junior high is too young. I have seen homeschooled kids of various ages start at public schools (mine and other families). Before about age 16, there is too much influence from the peer group. It takes an incredibly strong kid to withstand that at a younger age.

I homeschool and am still amazed at how much pc garbage my daughter manages to pick up. At least with so much one-on-one attention we have the opportunity to set her straight. Sending Christian children to public school is sending them to the wolves.
