SYRACUSE NY--Central New York activist Ed Kinane left Baghdad Sunday after about two months in Iraq with a group that opposes the war.

"I am greatly relieved," said Ann Tiffany, of Syracuse, a few hours after Kinane arrived safely in Amman, Jordan. "He sounded wonderful."

Tiffany said she supported her partner's opposition to the U.S.-led war in Iraq, but has worried about his safety since he left Feb. 8.

Cynthia Banas of Vernon is among three members of the Iraq Peace Team staying in Baghdad, said Tom Walsh, a spokesman for the Chicago-based group Voices in the Wilderness. They are expected to decide this week if they will stay, he said.

Twenty-five people in the antiwar delegation had planned to stay in Baghdad throughout the war. In early April, 13 members left Baghdad, and Kinane and five other delegates arrived in Amman Sunday, Walsh said.

Tiffany said Kinane told her he left Iraq because he felt he could no longer document the war and had difficulty making telephone calls and sending e-mail since the war began.

"It definitely was not the danger," she said. "Ed said most of the time he felt fairly secure. It was simply that they couldn't do what they hoped to do. Their movements were very restricted."

These traitors should've all been arrested at the airport and charged with terrorism and aiding and abetting the enemy.

Was he one of the idiots harassing the troops when they first arrived at the Palestine Hotel last week?

"Ed said most of the time he felt fairly secure..."

Yeah, and how secure would he have been if he were acting as a human shield against ANY country other than the U.S.? The only reason he felt so secure is that he knew damn well that the U.S. would go out of its way to avoid hurting civilians, including ignoramouses such as himself.

Regime sympathizer runs home to safety. Human shields could stay and shield businesses from being looted or provide humanitarian services.

Maybe he saw that "Go home, human shields!" sign that the Iraqis were waving on international television.

Why are they leaving, shouldn't these human shields be protecting against the looters?

Well, the guy can't make a commitment for long. Just ask his "partner".

Dont ya just love these folks? They are committed to nothing but intellectual and moral onanism. This guy will get back... tell "war stories" the rest of his life, while picking up a young naive co-ed who reeks of patchouilli, after his "partner" gets too long in the tooth for him.

What a bunch of crap, if they wern't restricted before the liberation then they must of been part of the Baathist they were the only ones who had freedom to move about up until the liberation when their movement became restricted
