'CHEMICAL SHELLS FOUND' (Hello Mr. Blix!)

'CHEMICAL SHELLS FOUND'
US Marines have discovered 278 artillery shells carrying a substance that tested positive as a blistering agent, senior officers have said.

Major Stephen Armes, of the Marines 1st Battalion, 5th Regiment, said the shells were found in trailers parked in a schoolyard.

Three were mounted on launchers, he said.

But the battalion commander said more tests were required before any conclusions could be drawn.

Coalition forces have yet to find any evidence of chemical weapons since launching the war in Iraq on March 20.

All the alleged finds have so far turned out to be false upon further analysis.

But military commanders remain confident they will eventually uncover weapons of mass destruction.

They say thousands of sites have to be searched and it is only a matter of time.

"I have not found any that I have absolutely satisfied myself are...weapon of mass destruction materials," Coalition commander General Tommy Franks told reporters.

"But you're talking about 2,000, 3,000 perhaps, places in this country where we know we're going to go and investigate each one of them.

"We may have...somewhere between five and 10 and 15 site exploitations ongoing in a 24-hour period of time."

In some of these cases the testing could take up to three weeks or more, he added.

That certainly sounds promising. Unless these basic facts are proven to be wrong, it certainly seems reasonable to assume that liquid-filled shells are chemical weapons.

"The missiles are just a pesticide delivery system for very large locusts."

You know, for a country with as little arable land as Iraq, they seem to have a HUGE (or is that hugh) stockpile of pesticides and fertilizers.

Saddam's sworn goal is to "burn Israel".
Is there any doubt a regime as brutal as this
has moved the crown jewels of their WMD program
to Syria and will eventually use them?

Opening one in downtown Paris seems like a good test to me.

"the shells were found in trailers parked in a schoolyard."

Well, that settles it. They are probably used for headlice treatments.

Do you all think that perhaps the military is holding off on verifying these things while the war is still going on? I haven't heard that our military has yet declared any of the stuff found to NOT be WMD. Is there anything out there that says this?

All these premature reports are either Sky News or Fox News.

Both have accumulated very poor accuracy ratings in this war. Supporting the troops is fine but I'm a little tired of Shep rushing breathlessly to the screen with yet another false report.

Enough of this BS. Report it when the Pentagon announces it after testing and stop ruining your credibility with all these false alarms, Fox. I've certainly curtailed my viewing on Fox and of the war because I'm sick of all the hysterical and false reporting they've done. I'll watch a few movies on disc instead and watch Brit Hume's and Hannity's show for more accurate news. Too bad because normally I watch FNC all the time. But not when they can't keep up minimal standards of accuracy.

You know, there is something really, really odd going on with all of these "finds". Because, come on, ropes and pulleys disguised behind a fake wall in a roving artillary launcher, war heads filled with sarin and "ready to fire", Al-Tuwaitha with radiation readings off the map? There's more as we all know.

So why is it a big announcement then suddenly quashed? Sure, there've been a few mistakes but something weird is going here.

What I think is that the military wants scientists to come in there and test everything, probably with representatives from many countries as witnesses. Also, all of the circumstantial evidence so far discovered has convinced me, especially that cute trick of hiding this stuff in a school yard.

I don't think they can get those scientists in there safely until the shooting stops and the US doesn't want any big announcements until all T's are crossed and I's dotted.

Also, I wonder if there isn't a possibility that the US plans on going directly to the suppliers of those chemicals and nukes, behind the scenes and all quiet like, and use the knowledge to "pursuade" maybe Russia, maybe France, to forgive their debts from Iraq.

Whatever the case, I sure would like to see something announced grandly and loudly, with pictures and acknowledgement by recognized scientists.

I mean, hey, is it just me but if all the crap that's been found was found anywhere else on the planet we'd assume the obvious, right?
