Go easy. Perhaps poster feels that Geraldo might have been responsible for news reports featuring KIA due to his loose mouth and inflated ego had things gone wrong. Can't fault poster for being a bit disgusted with the quest for news rage of Fox, or the rest.

Re your Reply #10, I agree 100% with your assessment of the Geraldo situation and -- as much as I hate to say it -- I actually feel a bit bad for him, as well.
And I *never* thought I'd say that about him.

His "kiss" sign-off is a signal to his children that he's fine and he loves them.
Much like Carol Burnett used to tug her ear at the end of her show to let her Grandmother know all was well.

Nice to see many who use this site increasingly agree!Took long enough if you ask me. The defense of Geraldo on here was mind boggling and his continued lies that the military didn't force him to leave Iraq were ignored. The allegiance to Geraldo because he was on Fox News went way over the top IMO.

I disagree. I thought he did just fine, and everyone he talked to responded just like always

His "kiss" sign-off is a signal to his children that he's fine and he loves them. Yeah, I know that, and that's great, but still...it looked as if he was trying to grab the chaplin's hand to get his attention to wrap it up. Gah.

One of the few bad decisions that FOX made was not canning him when he got loose with the troop movement details that got him un-embedded. He is much too full of himself. I cant believe FOX hired him in the first place.

I'm 26. My first memories of Geraldo/Jerry are of him getting his nose broken by a chair weilded by some KKK member on some sleazy talk show he hosted. I'm a lot older than 26 and I first took not of Jerry on an ABC late night show in the early 70s called Good Night America.
He was busy trying to be a hip, cool, younger version of Dick Cavett. At least I think he was. I didn't get him then. And I don't get him now. Except whatever he covers, it's all about him.
I happen to think it's rather sad, that with all of the anti-American reporters out there, all of the anti-military reporters out there, all of the anti-war reporters out there, and all of the anti Bush reporters out there...
People feel the need to trash a reporter that clearly loves his country, the troops, and is proud as hell of all of them for the job they are doing and isn't ashamed to say so.
At the moment I am relishing the outrage I'm sure CNN and MSNBC and the like are feeling over the fact that Geraldo would dare close his program with a *gasp* prayer!

I sent my email to Fox as soon as I saw he was going to be on.
It was my information that intel seen a build up of the area the troops were getting ready to go into after Baghdad Jerry's disgraceful lack of concern for the troops with his map in the sand. I think we lost a couple of troops in that engagement. Does he have blood on his hands? We will never know for sure but I will not give him the benefit of the doubt.
He is nothing more than Jerry Springer lite and never will be.
Fox' defense of him doesn't bode well for them. I have followed the coverage of the war mostly on Fox, but I will not watch Jerry Rivers showboat at our troops expense and told them so.

I thought Geraldo got flushed!
Why in the world is he still embedded?

Did you see that FOX ran Geraldo's entire segment this afternoon for the MIA/KIA? Complete with a very long prayer. That makes three prayers for Geraldo today, televised.
I'm still waiting for a single one being allowed on any of the other networks.

Geraldo has been anti soldier and anti veteran since vietnam when he was a flaming liberal and anti american Gerry was and is a full blown liberal
IMO Gerry saw his career dissipation like blinking and realized that the new frontier was conservatives and fox ...he jumped ship...and became a born again psuedo conservative...and with war looming...
Found it profitable for him to be "for the military" but he isnt ...he is decidedly pro Geraldo
PT Barnum was a better journalist..Everyshow is about Geraldo...Geraldo is the focus...
He got back on because FOXNews is pro Bush and pro Iraqi War...Bush owes Fox and Fox calls in a favor to the state dept..Fox is pro US Military...
Geraldo whines and cries and bitches until he gets back with the 101...Geraldo enjoys being able to one up the 101...and they gotta hate him for it....
I do...I dont forget what he did to Vietnam vets and MIA/POWs
Or His defense of the first rapist...and other liberal causes...
Hopefully that little plick falls outof a blackhawk and breaks both his legs...
One can only hope....
Meanwhile the troops that fished into their trousers for a going away present for Geraldo last time...well....next time I hope they find his toothbrush...
He is a shameless self promoter...and a user...
Rupert must see himself himself 50 yrs ago in Geraldo is all I can figure...

It was very touching and somber. Really brought home what these brave young men and women deal with every day over there.

I don't know all the machinations behind the scene from the drawing in the sand incident.
But, from what I heard and understood MSNBC and CNN had reported before FOX did. Isn't it possible that Geraldo was still able to do a report the next morning and not aware what had happened until later that evening?
I didn't like the fact that an unnamed military spokesperson had given the information to MSNBC and CNN and they were reporting while an investigation was going on and FOX hadn't responded before they reported. I would believe FOX before MSNBC and CNN for the simple fact that they supported Arnett also before the firestorm of callers and letters started coming in.
The news became Geraldo all day all the time and very little about Arnett's treason.
For the record.

He's not. Never was. He's what the Pentagon calls 'unilateral' - tagging along with the 101 at the discression of thier command.

I remember Rivera in the 70's when he worked for the ABC local news in New York. He was a grandstanding SOB then and still is now>"All his crusading about that hospital's patients (I forget the hospital's name) being held unfairly resulted in their release and homelessness in NYC.
