He cannot be a soldiers best friend and Clintons best friend.

If up to Clinton and his Blackhawk down administration we would have pulled out on the third day of this leaving thousands of our men to die and be captured.

If up to Geraldo he would have sold the battle plane for a show host spot on Al Jezzera

I gladly would swap one of the dead news reporters for Bghdad Jerry.

When he "ordered" the troops to run into that house, or meeting place, I wanted to scream, "Stop it! Those guys are tired, you jerk!"

He has them standing around him and I wonder if they want to do that! I've noticed Leventhal and Kelly do not do that. I like their methods better.

P.S. Baghdad Jerry will hurt FOX New's ratings.

Maybe you should tell the wives and children of the soldiers just featured on t.v. that Fox shouldn't be showing this with Geraldo. Do you think the families that they said hello to and that they loved them and missed them wish Fox wasn't showing this? Some of you people really need to get a grip and get over this hate for Geraldo. I didn't see any cold shoulder being given at all. I saw a group of professionals acting like professionals and taking the opportunity to communicate in some small way with their loved ones. If it takes Geraldo to do that then those of you who are so hateful and what him off the air should be ashamed for trying to get Fox to fire him.

Olberman is just a loser! He has lost every job he has ever had cause no one likes him. He is snide and caustic.

"Yes, he was stupid and used bad judgment with his sand drawing. However, I do not put him in the class of Peter Arnett who was doing his best to hurt our troops."

. . .agree; and think since his move to Fox he has become more wise to certain political realities . . .and that is good.

. . .and yes, only the Liberal media tried to equivicate in the mind of the beholder the Treason of Peter Arnett with Geraldo's faux pas. Made them, CNN and NBC look less guilty by assosciation.

Bottom line, though he has been there a while, give Geralso a 'thumbs-up' as a realative newbie at Fox. . .

Gerible blew his very last chance. After years of kissing Klintoons @ss, he decided to get 'patriotic' in front of the camera, post 9/11.

It worked for a while, it even got him a gig with FOX. Then he drew some diagrams in the sand. He would have been better off keeping that finger in his pocket.

I guess the only place left for him is the Home Shopping Network.

I agree. I even sent Geraldo an e-mail when I saw the disgusting Olbermann report. I sent MSNBC one and complained about Herr Olbermann, as well.

After Eason Jordan's NY Times piece, I would think that Arnett will never show his face again. Assuming he has any shame at all.

I wouldn't make that assumption. My cats have more sense of shame than Arnett. As for Geraldo, I really get that the soldiers are silently sending him bad vibes as hard as they can, and he knows it. The whole episode is just painful.

If they want to do that, I am all for them doing it. I just know they must be exhausted and having to stand around Geraldo for awhile may not be to their liking. If he asks who wants to, that's great!

I noticed the awkwardness between Geraldo and the troops even before the lines in the sand business. The military is basically a conservative organization and many in the military are wise to Geraldo. Contrast the cold-shoulder treatment received by Geraldo to the genuine respect accorded to Oliver North. Everybody "sirs" him to death and and it apparent that Ollie is truly seen as "one of them."

I never liked Geraldo. I've met his type before. He's your basic disingenous back-slapping used car salesman type who will be your "best buddy in the world" until he gets what he wants out of you. Then it's on to the next sucker.

The ONLY difference between the journalistic sham represented by Geraldo and Arnett is that one continues to be protected by his employer, which is flushing down the toilet it's credibility by keeping him on the air and pretending like the did NOT do what we ALL KNOW he did on the air. Arnett was a least booted (under public pressure) and now is precisely where he belongs -- writing a largely ignored column in a left wing British newspaper and serving as a war correspondent for an Arab television network. Geraldo is back on the job -- after denying he did anything wrong, claiming "rats" and liars from his old network were spreading falsehoods about his situation, rushing through a pro forma apology.
Now he expects the troops will welcome him. He is a DISGRACE -- and it's Foxes only misstep in its whole incredible history of its rise to the top.
Fortunately, Geraldo is a uniter not a divider: he is loathed by many on the right (except those who absolutely must defend Fox for this commonsensical, journalistic, and corporate fiasco and living embarrassment of its judgement), loathed by many on the left, loathed by many of our men and uniform and an absolute joke to anyone who has even the lowest journalistic standards.
You can make arguments (as Howard Rosenberg did in the LA Times) about whether some Fox folk show their sympathies...but so what. Geraldo is a grandstander who almost got people KILLED due to his stupidity -- then DENIED HE DID ANYTHING WRONG...and came back days later to rush through an apology (he said it twice and did not dwell on it; he was like a kid drinking cough syrup who wanted to get onto his twinkies).
As long as he is on Fox, Fox is giving its critics lots of ammunition.
He must have a reaaaaaaaaaaaaallly goooooood friend there at Fox who is willing to tank the channel's credibility to keep him on.
BRAVO FOR OUR TROOPS! I hope they continue it.
Nice to see many who use this site increasingly agree!

As much as I dislike Geraldo, I believe he truly supports the troops and wants to be identified with them. I actually feel rather sorry for him in this.

I agree. I also didn't see the same "cold shoulder" that was supposedly given to him. I like Geraldo, big ego and all. He's like a big ol' puppy dog that doesn't know it's making a mess of things when it wags its tail.

I will add my voice to the (not giving cold shoulder ranks).

I'm trying to like Geraldo. Or give him the benefit of the doubt. But the ending left me with a bad feeling when he was trying to cut off the prayer. Granted, they were running out of time, but he managed to save a few seconds to do his kiss signoff. ARrrrrgggghhh.

I am with you. I remember that night when he started drawing the map and telling what he knew about battle plans just two hours before our soldiers were to go into battle. The soldiers should have been preparing for the battle ahead not being part of a USO show featuring Geraldo.

Then he goes on the air and lies the next morning that he is still in Iraq and the military didn't ask him to leave even after a DoD press spokesman said they had asked Fox to remove him -- he blamed MSNBC and so did the Fox anchor. Fox never did own up to the fact the military wanted Geraldo out of Iraq!

Lost a lot of respect for Fox executives over that call and it seems they didn't learn much with Geraldo being back on tonight for a full hour!

I agree with you. He has not, thus far, faltered in his praise for our military men.
He is pompous and he made a mistake. I just hope our soldiers tolerate him because he serves a purpose.
