[history]
Tax money, the public's money, should go to improve everybody's standard of living. That means generous funding for education, recreation and aid to the poor, homeless and sick, say Mindworks contributors.
"April 15 is Tax Day. When your parents earn money, some of it is sent to the government as taxes to help pay for services such as education, health care, roads and bridges. If you were deciding how the money would be spent, what kinds of things would you want to see that money buy? What kinds of things would you not want that money to buy? How important is it that the money is spent to benefit you personally?"

"How important is it that the money is spent to benefit you personally?"If you let the parents keep the money then the kids are far more likely to benefit personally . . .

Children are evil little creatures who should be kept nailed in a box until they're old enough to be sent to the factories. Yeah.

"Tax money should go to improve everybody's standard of living." That must be a typographical error. It should have read "tax money goes to reduce everyone's standard of living." Where are the proof-readers when you need them most?

"I don't care if tax money helps me or not," wrote Daniel Olson, 12, of St. Paul. "In reality, tax money helps everyone. Whether it is for education, libraries or roads, everyone should get something out of them. I look at tax money as an act of charity enforced on America. You are helping the needy, the needy are helping themselves and others. Tax money is a good idea."Look you little brat, if you think government is so great then give it your own allowance. But keep your grubby little hands off my wallet.

A few characterized public education as a financial sinkholeA few have a pretty good assessment on the nature of things.
I'm betting they followed this up with a game of "lifeboat," wherein those students who advocated against taxes were selected as the ones that would die so that the balance of the collective would live.
I'm 1000 percent against teaching anybody under the age of 24 that their opinion matters at all.

I look at tax money as an act of charity enforced on America.Enforced Charity. Hmmmm. Charity is a quality of love (according to St. Paul). How does one enforce love?

Tax money only helps children if their parents are allowed to keep what they earn.

Its now apparent that most on the left haven't achieved adulthood - their opinions are similar.

Here's an idea.... Big Hollywood is so fond of participating in and contributing to political fundraisers, why don't they just do a "send our money to build roads and bridges" fundraiser, or attend a "$1,000-a-plate fundraiser for XYZ school", or "let's write a $1M check to the homeless to drink and snort" fundraiser. Maybe they could just "adopt a retiree" and pay for their prescriptions.
Just a thought.

The adults who advocate balancing the budget by cutting education funding are doing so from a myopic world view, they wrote."Which of these "kids" used the word "myopic"?

Don't be shocked if the Democrats start campaigning for lowering the voting age to 14.

You took the words right out of my mouth. There's no such thing as "enforced charity."

Tax money, the public's money, should go to improve everybody's standard of living. If I could keep all of my money my standard of living would improve greatly.

Amen amen amen! Just recently was at a condo meeting where the embedded elderly Commies wanted to spend and spend and spend --- my money! I just wanted to scream if YOU think fees are too low, PAY MORE yourself and leave my wallet alone! But oh no, of course if THEY have to pay more, EVERYONE has to. Hillary must be so proud! And of course, if you disagree, then you don't UNDERSTAND... because heaven forbid anyone with that mindset is WRONG - they won't even consider it. And here these kids are working on their own little utopias using everyone else's money. It makes me crazy.
Something has to be done about the schools... does anyone teach reasonable, rational thinking anymore? I'm finding it harder and harder to find (except here!)

Wow, what groundbreaking news. It yet again proves that children are not adults. Of course they don't understand the value of money or taxes. No one robs them of 30/40/50 percent or more of their allowance to buy the nasty kid down the road a bicycle because he's too lazy to walk to school.
Perhaps next they'll ask the young'ens what they think of stem cell research. It should undoubtedly prove as enlightening.
Where, in the world, do adults get the idea that children should even be consulted on such matters? It's one of the most ridiculous and dangerous developments in our society.

Maybe he should be "enforced" to GIVE his bicycle to the kid down the street. Would certainly improve second kid's standard of living. That would be truly selfless. <>
