And how is this a bad thing?

I didn't say it was. Nor do I believe this particular type of implementation is a bad thing. There are, however, many privacy advocates who believe this is stepping onto a slippery slope.

Biometrics is no more the mark of the beast than fingerprinting. There is no mark made on your hand, head, foot or behind. It justs records measurements of your hand (joint positions, finger lengths, fingerprints, ect) on your Drivers License; making it harder for someone to steal your identity.

I'm not worried that I'm carrying the mark around in my pocket on my driver's license.

But I'm also not the least bit in doubt that it's the first stages of the slippery slope.
