A Few of FR's Finest.....
......Every Day

FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues; salute and support our military and our leaders;  tell a few jokes;  learn a new word;  write poetry;  pray for those in need;  and congratulate those who are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which we can express ourselves.

Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   I can remember lurking when there were only a few regulars who posted, and now there are over 60,000 who have registered for posting privileges. The forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001

So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I can no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I've been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.

Still that doesn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why, in addition to seeing FR's Finest Military Personnel every day, I thought it might be fun to feature a different FReeper (or FReepers) each day. If you would like to be pictured, or know someone who would, please FReepmail me and we'll turn the spotlight - on YOU - for the day!

And do let me know if you'd like your picture added to the groups of Veterans/Active Military below. I will keep this page updated, and continue to add them to the comment section of the original Veteran's Day thread as well.

RALLY FOR AMERICA, CYBER-STYLE

For the past few weeks, Freepers and patriots across the USA have been attending rallies in support of America, President Bush and our Troops. Many who have not been able to attend these rallies have cheerleaded from the sidelines and visited the various After Action Threads on the FR Forum.

When Billie invited us (Aquamarine and daisyscarlett) to contribute another American Patriotic Music Thread, we brainstormed to come up with a fresh presentation. We decided to do a cyber-rally and incorporate various photos from recent rallies across the U.S.A.-from North, South, East and West. This thread will include lots of patriotic music as well as patriotic graphics, prayers, poems and messages.

As always, we invite and welcome your participation. Post your favorite patriotic image, song, message of support-whatever you want. In addition to the four graphics featured in the opening, we will be posting scenes from other rallies throughout the thread, endeavoring to include as many as possible.

We are especially pleased that so many of these rallies were supported by former Finest Freeper profilees-heck, in some cases, these Freeper Finest were integral to the planning and success of said rallies.

So let’s hear it for AMERICA and our wonderful troops and leaders, rally style!!

FLAGS, SIGNS, YELLOW RIBBONS

One thing common to all rallies is the American Flag. We have seen big flags, little flags, paper flags and hand drawn flags. Flag clothing is also quite popular as well as the wearing of flag colors-the red, white and blue. Please post a favorite flag graphic if you are able to for our cyber- rally and enjoy this "My Name is Old Glory"

RALLY VENUES

Rallies are held in many places....on historic courthouse steps, in atlethic fields and stadiums, on street corners and even on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. They have been held in the sunshine, the rain and the snow. Our location today is the WWW. Lots of room here and the weather is great too.

PROGRAM

Rally programs are varied. Some rallies consist of a group of people cheering and waving flags in suppot of troops. Other rallies have structured and extensive programs. Prayers, music, speeches by local media politicians and celebrities, poems and more music. Military color guards are common; the Star Spangled Banner and God Bless America are sung and/or played more often than not. If the rally is on a street corner or a place with traffic, there is much shouting of Support our Troops and interacting with the public, most of whom are supportive.

PEOPLE

Patriots come in all shapes and sizes. Men, women, boys, girls, rich, poor, retired and active military personnel, civilians. Our rallies have included all of the above, a cross section of Americans coming together to support our troops and country.

Aquamarine will be our guest hostess today and will be posting patriotic music throughout the thread. She also helped put the thread together. She was wonderful to work with (as usual).

Thank you, Aquamarine. (I'll be back later to join in too).

An Iraqi worker identified only as Mohammed, right, helping in the reconstruction of a road near the port of Umm Qasr, speaks to US Rear Admiral Charles Kubic April 6, 2003. The Navy Seabees have started working with locals in repairing roads, setting up playgrounds and helping in the distribution of potable water in an effort to return life to normal. Mohammed later spoke with journalists and told them 'Tell (German Chancellor Gerhard) Schroeder and (French President Jacques) Chirac that if they lived for just one day under Saddam they would have asked the whole world to come and liberate us.' From my perusal of Breaking News and watching FOX News it looks like the phrase "We Own Baghdad" applies.

Forces moved in to TWO of his Palaces and now occupy them. Also British Coalition Forces have moved into Basrah TO STAY !

Headin' out to Bally's for my workout ! See ya'll later !!

Hi, I need to get something off my mind; please forgive the rant and I need you prayers about this.

Today is Monday, April 7, 2003. And it’s 7:55AM;EST in Baltimore, Maryland, USA.

I’m tired!

I’m tired of living in a state and working in a city that is so into it’s self that anyone having opinions, beliefs and a viewpoint that differs with the majority of the inhabitants is seen as crazed or a fool!

I hate it when I can’t talk to anyone here when world events as well as local events, especially in the realm of politics and religion.

I wish I could move out of this state! Don’t get me wrong, I think Maryland is a beautiful state, and I love being in such a diverse and historic area, but, politically, I hate it! I wish I could move to a state like Tennessee or North Carolina or one of the Western states.

But I can’t afford it. Unfortunately I’m stuck here.

My job is here and I try to find another job with Social Security. Like a District Office or Payment Center or the like.

I’ve worked for SSA for almost 23 years, so finding another place and relocating are really out of the question. I tried looking for a job in another government agency like homeland Security or something like that. But no such luck in that!

So I’m stuck here and have to put up with my liberal neighbors and coworkers. I don’t discuss politics with anyone much as it only will lead into arguments and bad feelings. I have to stay silent whenever some one brings up Iraq and the war or President Bush.

Yet, I find myself seething and wishing I could say something in support of both.

Last week, I think it was Tuesday, I broke down and went into a tirade about my feelings on things that have happened since 9/11/01. I made it no secret how I felt like we were betrayed and violated because of the apathy and ignorance of not only x42 but of every elected official and special interest group that has ever displayed or exersized any kind of power. I also voiced my real hope and prayer that no democrat or liberal EVER occupies the White House again! I’m afraid I cried, and this was at work. I had heard enough bashing of the President, of our Country and our Military. I wanted to scream out “WHAT DO YOU ALL WANT?”

One coworker managed to calm me down, imagine that! A democrat who did not condemn me as a “no-nothing” Republican! Instead, she understood that as free people, I had a right to my opinions and views, and to change my political affiliations when the party disillusions me I was with before.

I still feel betrayed but I try not to hate and to forgive, but it’s hard. I know it says we should forgive those who have wronged us, and to love even our enemies, but my anger won’t let me do this.

But I try because it’s the Christian thing to do. That doesn’t mean that we let others walk all over us!

I’m glad there are a few Conservatives around to talk to or else I would go crazy!

I’m glad there is a forum like FR to vent my feelings on to and to purge myself of any lingering liberal beliefs I may have.

Thanks for letting me rant!
