April 4, 2003 -- PUNDITS and chat- show personalities often play the role of ideological id in American politics - expressing intemperate views, pro and con, that are governed more by passionate partisanship than sweet reason. The id gets attention, no doubt about it. The id makes for good TV. And the visceral nature of the ideological id is very much present in the thoughts and feelings of those who are profoundly engaged in politics.

Newt commented on this yesterday. He sain it took him three years to realize that when you become an important player, you don't have to have an opinion every morning. It's sad, but true, that top leaders have to keep their mouths shut, or the press will eat them.

Excellent article ... personally, I didn't remember the issue about Newt and his comments referenced her, so can't speak to them as a fair parallel.

However, this recent comment by Kerry is quite low .. There is so much "Bush hatred" out there, I can appreciate the labeling of such a comment as "red meat" and I do hope that it comes back to haught them.

This article reminds me of the "id" errors of the democratic party when they threw out so much "red meat" at the Senator Goldstone's wake in Minneapolis. That was a perfect example of what this writer is speaking of. I do hope that this Kerry remark has the same result for him - shame on him.

Remember, this is a PR war and Kerry just raised the stakes. Kerry's argument is a strong one "I am a veteran and have fought for my right to speak out". A weak argument complaining that "well, ok, you're a respected veteran, but still...." WON'T work. We need to take the fight to Kerry and discredit him entirerly. FrontPageMag by David Horowitz has an excellent piece (http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/Printable.asp?ID=5468) on Kerry that shows how he was a traitor during Vietnam. I'm summed up the message here:

Not surprisingly, Kerry, whose disloyalty divided the homefront during Vietnam is up to his dishonorable tactics again today. The true veterans of foreign wars have no respect for him. Never forget, Benedict Arnold fought brilliantly for the American cause for six years. John Kerry has only 4 years of military service (1966-1970). Arnold's service in no way justified his later treachery. Neither is Kerry exempt.

I'm going to spread the truth about Kerry wherever possible. His "service" has turned him against his country and he has been attacking America ever since.
