WASHINGTON - Democratic presidential wannabe Sen. John Kerry has touched off a firestorm by calling for a "regime change" to oust President Bush - using Bush's term for ousting or killing Saddam Hussein. "What we need now is not just a regime change in Saddam Hussein and Iraq, but we need a regime change in the United States," Kerry (D-Mass.) told a New Hampshire crowd on Wednesday.

Joe Trippi, Dean's campaign director, called Kerry's position "flabbergasting" and an obvious bid to court anti-war voters.
BINGO!!!

So he DID use the phrase "regime change" in reference to Bush. Huh. I was about to call Kerry a piece of pond scum, but that's a disservice to pond scum everywhere.
What I find funny, though, is how the Democratic contenders all seem to be fighting over the anti-war vote. Do any of them REALLY think that they'll win the election by catering to the extreme minority? Or do they think they can veer to the extreme left for the primaries, and then turn to the center for the general campaign and that no one will notice?

The regime change was in 2002 when we tossed out a lawless thug, and installed a real president.

As I've said in the past and continue to say: John Kerry is going to be Theresa Heinz's biggest flop since green ketchup.

Kerry lashed out at a time when his quasi-front-runner status has evaporated - anti-war ex-Vermont Gov. Howard Dean is tied with him in must-win New Hampshire and Sen. John Edwards (D-N.C.) has raised more campaign money. Joe Trippi, Dean's campaign director, called Kerry's position "flabbergasting" and an obvious bid to court anti-war voters. "How do you say things like that when you voted to give [Bush] a blank check for war?" Kerry's campaign lashed back at critics, citing his Vietnam combat service and saying "he'd just as soon skip . . . lectures about supporting our troops."While most of Americans are focused on fighting the Iraqi's the Dem candidates are fighting amongst themselves.
Fun to watch!

Nobody (I know of) has articulated this simple observation: The comments are so odious because of the implied comparison between a vile homicidal tyrant and a freely elected leader of a limited government.
(Some claim that the he was not freely elected because the Florida Supreme Court was allowed to rewrite Florida's election laws to permit the Palm Beach County election board time to find enough chads to steal the election. Not the same thing as tossing people in shredders so you can hear them scream, I think.)

Anybody betting on who'll get the scumocrat nod next year? I'm thinking it's probably somebody not even in the race yet. Usually governors are good bets.

Kerry's political career is starting to smell like the pungent and odorous Heinz vinegar. Hold your nose, John.

Ketchup Boy must be reading the latest DUmmy Forum posts. Most of the enthusiasm there is for Howard Dean, NOT Kerry. Ketchup Boy's latest statement was a desperate bid to win back the Lefties.

an obvious bid to court anti-war voters. Then, in Kerry's tactical maneuver, he's as stupid as Saddam; he's got 100% of the military against him and 70% of the American people.

I'm amazed how few - if any - comprehend the gravity of his call for a "regime change". This is not simply a phrase calling for a different turnout for the next election...Kerry IS ADVOCATING THE OVERTHROW OF THE USA GOVERNMENT.
"Regime change" at this time clearly refers to the armed overthrow of not just a top leader, but of the entire system of government.
At minimum, Kerry should be pressured to resign.
Kerry SHOULD be arrested.
