Scandinavian Iraqis spoiling for a fight

STOCKHOLM (Reuters) - More than 1,000 Iraqis living in Scandinavia have volunteered to return to their native country to fight U.S. and British troops, an Iraqi diplomat says.

"It is already over 1,000 and more people are calling all the time," said Jamal Abdulrazak, attache at the Iraqi embassy in Stockholm which serves Sweden, Denmark and Norway.

"They want to attack the aggression of the United States. They want to fight the illegal occupation of their country by U.S. and British aggressors. And they are right," he told Reuters.

The Swedish government expelled Iraq's two top diplomats -- allegedly for spying on Iraqi exiles and not in compliance with a request from Washington -- a week before the U.S.-led war started.

Because of the expulsions, the current status of the Iraqi embassy does not allow it to issue passports or visas, Abdulrazak said, adding the mission's two-man staff was advising countrymen who wanted to join the war to travel to Syria or Jordan.

Some 41,500 Iraqis received asylum in Sweden between 1980 and 2002. More than 24,000 people from Iraq live in Denmark and around 15,000 in Norway.

The governments of Sweden and Norway have condemned the war because it lacks, in their view, a U.N. Security Council mandate. Denmark, however, is contributing to the U.S.-led attack with a submarine and a small warship.

practice is alway good - and in simulated conditions all the better - i naturally shoot rifles/shotguns left handed - though i shoot nearly as well right handed - bad right eye vision limits my downrange view - we don't have many rats to shoot in my area - though I do shoot muskrats with my bow - to easy with a gun - but i do like to shot at empty shotgun shells standing on the 100 yd target with my open site marlin 22 - i find handgun shooting comfortable from either side

growing up i carried my marlin with me everywhere and no one thought a thing of it - if i was a kid today carrying it around would get a swat team on me - truely a shame

i'm 50 and got mine - a bolt action - from my grandfather in gradeschool close to 40 years ago - it was old - as i remember it - when i got it from him - he wanted me to shoot the squirrels in the area - he considered them tasty pests - he also taught me to shoot a pistol when i was in 3rd grade - and i actually learned to shoot at a target that was in front of the broad side of a barn - with the animals in the pasture - great memories

Let's see. Iraq was such a horrible place that 41,500 asked Sweden for asylum and it was granted. Yet now 1000 or so want to go back and defend the country that was so terrible to them? It doesn't make sense.

I'm only 49, my dad bought the Model 36 in the late 40's so I guess it's over 50. Squirrel with dumplings (I'm a Southerner). I also have a Marlin 22 auto rifle that will group entire mag in one inch rapid fire at 100 yards. My favorite deer rifle is my Browning A Bolt 270 with flat finish and composite stock. Leupold 3X10 50 MM scope. Kill a gnat at 300 yards.

as you may have guessed my identity is tied to my toys - my marlin was my first gun - and remains a sentimental favorite - it is such a comfortable fit - but like i mentioned it was nearly an appendage for many years - i got my 1st shotgun - and h&r - in 6th grade - my dad tricked me - he wanted to pour a concrete driveway - which required that the old gravel one be removed - dad told me that if i pick axed the driveway up he'd get me the h&r - all things considered that is the most and hardest work i've ever done - lol

i like leopold scopes as well - but i think it is a good idea for us folks on the forum here to remember that there are unfriendlies that are looking in on our posts - and so listing our weapons may not be such a good idea - which sux because some of us that believe in the 2nd amendment have cool toys

in may is actually when i turn 50 and i have my present to me already ordered - suffice it to say it makes a big noise and is meant to hit things way down range

i'm a northerner - spring turkey is just around the corner - we are kind of in the hunting/fishing void - nothing in season to hunt - and unsafe ice is still on most lakes - but not enough to fish from - i was last out fishin about 10 days ago - crappies were really hitting - i would think that in another week or so the lakes will clear and the boat can hit the water

this would be a great place to live if it weren't for the damn socialist that run things here in minnesota

If I listed all my toys, I'd need a bigger monitor. I go to a lot of shows. Hunting and fishing are great in ALA. Spring turkey season is over. We have the best whitetail season in the world. Bow and BP start Nov 1, rifle Nov 15, lasts til Jan 31, 1 buck per day limit and many doe days.

as far as whitetail are concerned - i may have to take exception - we have great hunting here - bow hunting starts with small game season around sept 15 and goes until dec 31 - with the 2 rifle weekends out of season - i live on the metro area edge - and since whitetails are considers hooved locus in the metro area bowhunters can take up to 5 - intensive harvest permits - deer from the metro area - i took 3 last year - 2 does and an 8 point 200#er

my buddies and i have a 750 acre hunting camp in northcentral minnesota - we got it about 20 years ago as rolling farmland with a smaller river that runs through it with 3 low land slews and 2 wooded tracts - we put it into the conservation program for tax credits and such and over the years have built 20 platforms throughout the property - we have to follow the state guidelines - but not a problem - we have 5 feedplots in there as well as 150 acres of corn - we lease the land to a local farmer - in good years he combines for us during our weekends - he claims to have been seeing a 14 pt last summer - but noone saw such a creature during the season

we split the weekends alternating yearly - but it really hasn't made much difference as both groups tend to fill out - last fall we went 2nd weekend and we got filled 6 of six - my buddy t get a terrific 12 pointer - should have been mine - but the stupid creature cleared the woods and turned towards t's stand and not mine - watched the sucker stroll right up to t's stand - i told him he should have gone native on it and jumped on him from his stand and used his knife as any shot under 10 feet is not sporting - i never get gimmees - which makes it a good thing that i can shoot straight - lol

Oops bow and primitive weapon start Sept 15. My boo boo. I don't have the time to stay proficient with the bow so I wait til rifle season. I hunt on a 6,000 acre private preserve in South Ala belongs to a good friend. He uses the state management program and we have 150-200 doe tags each year. Good feeding and excellent environment produce big rack bucks. If it's less than 8 he walks free. 10's and 12's are common. Wild hogs year round.

wowsers - nice - that's lot of venison - must admit that there have been times when the last day of the season comes and there are open tags the battle cry is if it's brown it's down - lol

never been pig hunting - it's on the list - but it means going outstate and i tend to not do that - as i don't want to do a game farm hunt - and don't know anyone that has property where i can go - we have an annual group wild beast feast and some guys have brought boar - pretty tasty

We donate a lot of it. I only go til the freezers are full unless somebody says, "I sure could use some....." I'd rather drive tractors with bush hogs, plows and such, during the rest of the year.

thinning and donating is a good thing - there are noises being made up here that they are going to open up the number of doe tags - we have to many deer up here - so there may be a change in tag limits this year reflecting the thinking of stopping the herd growth by drastically reducing the doe count

personally i need 3/year - 1 for me - 1 for my dad - and 1 for my "i don't eat commercially raised meat" daughter

as for me - i'm aiming out now to go traipse through the local turkey hotspot and check how things are looking - it's 60 and sunshining - got to get outdoors and enjoy
