"The heritage of the victims of the Holocaust belongs to the Palestinian people. The state of Israel has no claim to the heritage of the Holocaust," claimed Professor of Latino Studies Nicholas De Genova.

But wait, there is more...

Professor of Middle Eastern Languages and Cultures Joseph Massad decried Israel as "a Jewish supremacist and racist state," and stated that "every racist state should be threatened."

Well.... it may be free speech or it may not... but even free speech doesn't mean there aren't consequences for what you say.

The 1st Amendment does not protect all speech. Speech that advocates or incites to violence is actionable under federal and state laws. Also, remember the recent trend (last ten years or so) to adopt laws against "hate crimes", and the movement at universities and colleges to adopt policies and procedures for dealing with "hate speech". Its now time to enforce these laws, these policies and procedures to their fullest. Officials at Columbia University would not be so cavalier in stating that De Genova was simply exercising his right of free speech (whether on campus or not) if he were advancing the intersts of white supremancy or the beliefs of the Klu Klux Klan. He's preaching sedition in time of war. His hate speech, which is intended to incite to violence, is specific. Its directed at our military men and women. Prosecute him. Let him become a martyr behind bars, rather than allowing him to freely advocate violence and hatred while the media wink and nod. Do not show timidity in enforcing the legitimate limits on "free speech" that our laws have always recognized and sanctioned. The Constitution and the laws that implement it provide both the freedoms that make us a great people and protections that enable that greatness to survive.

Naaah.... Putting him in jail will make him even more of martyr and give him a louder voice. I'd rather have the cr@p beaten out of him by some 5'1" Columbia undergrad, who is the kid sister of a marine Lance Corporal. (Though I'd settle for it being her 6'3" 250 boyfriend, who happens to be an offensive lineman for the CU Lions.) Embarrassment and physical pain will be appropriate punishment -- and a far better teachter -- without making him a martyr.

And if his a$$ is fired, you won't hear me complaining, either.

I think De Genova ought to be given a one-way ticket to Iraq to be a human shield. I'd like to see that leftist girlie-man take a 25mm hp shell to his frigging coco.
