BEIRUT, Lebanon, March 28 (UPI) --
Iraqi commander Ali Hassan al-Majeed ordered seven Baath officials in Basra executed on charges of "treason," Lebanon's al-Mustaqbal newspaper reported Friday.

The newspaper also said al-Majeed dismissed the Baath party leader and replaced the military commander.

The fratricide starts. It is slow, but will roll like a snowball before this is done.

Let's just pray they were none of our intelligence assets. Saddam may have found out who tipped us off for that decapitation bombing...

If I had to guess, I would say that a few officers may have questioned Saddam's orders through Chemical Ali to send out the tanks to certain destruction yesterday, and that was their death warrant.

IMO, we ought to step back and allow the terrorized people to quench their bloodlust once the war stops.

Them. By a wide margin. After the 1991 war, saddam "quelled" several uprisings. There weren't very many survivors.

Iraqi commander Ali Hassan al-Majeed ordered seven Baath officials in Basra executed...

Isn't that Hussein's job? Could it be that al-Majeed doesn't fear usurping Hussein's power?

This article is a bit puzzling.
If these 7 officials presently are in Basra
how do they plan to get to them
through British lines
to carry out the orders?

Good point. We don't know what this means, but it's encouraging when the jackals start to tear at each other.
