The average graduated high school kid anywhere in america.

We should be proud of these men.

I like this, but can I make a little point, vis a vis one of my pet peeves?

This piece implies there's something dishonorable or lazy about collecting unemployment.

Unemployment is insurance, not welfare: an earned benefit for which premiums are paid while employed, and you don't get it if you quit or are fired for cause.

Lots of people (me included) have collected unemployment for a few weeks or months in the past three of years of worsening economic times ... and I don't think that there's one of us who collected even half what was paid in in premiums over our working lives before filing.

I have got to stop reading this stuff at work. People will think I am a weak woman who cries at everything.

Bless our men and women who are fighting for us.

That is my son almost exactly, the only difference is that he can't cook his own meal, but in the past he always knew where there was a Hooters.

And ... the media is getting to know him first hand ... and the media guys actually like him - and more importantly - respect him and his abilities.

Beautiful!

And you compare this "kid" with the brats protesting on the streets against our government while being useful idiots for the Butcher of Baghdad, holding their "die-ins" in the streets as they tie up emergency vehicles, and "puking for peace" - actually throwing up.

He feels every note of the National Anthem vibrate through his body while at rigid attention, while tempering the burning desire to 'square-away' those around him who haven't bothered to stand, remove their hat, or even stop talking. In an odd twist, day in and day out, far from home, he defends their right to be disrespectful.

No truer line was ever written. Thanks for this post.
