You are correct. My doctors always told me that redheads need more anethesia and pain killers because we are genetically different.

I know that I have known to be screaming for moriphine and the nurses have said I don't need it yet.

But I always say..." Redheads may experience 20% more pain, but they also experience 20% more pleasure". :)

My sister-in-law has flaming red hair and is the biggest wimp in the world. A hangnail will make her bedridden.

I am a 55-yr-old redhead female -- I know the study you're talking about. I could have told them that years ago. My dentist always gives me more pain killer than other patients, and my dermatologist, who has removed four skin cancers, does the same. Maybe there's something in this particular substance that works better on redheaded women? Good news, if so.

I sympathize with you...My best friend is a natural red-head, and she has made a believer out of me when it comes to how many pain pills a red head has to take before they get any relief.

It's no joke, she suffers from severe arthritis.
