Thursday, SF Civic Center Support the President!

Posted on 03/20/2003 12:07:53 AM PST by Mediaqueen

Walk, drive, take BART to take a stand in support of the President of the U.S., our troops and our actions in Iraq.

When: Thursday, 3/20, 12 Noon (try to arrive by 11:45)

Where: San Francisco's Civic Center Plaza by City Hall, Van Ness (look for other "Common Sense Activists" at BACK of anti-war protest)

I've confirmed on the Intl' ANSWER site that the "blame America, hate Bush" crowd will be gathering at this location at noon Thursday, inevitably followed by a horde of media cameras. We won't be able to match them in numbers, but the collective IQs, big signs and sharp wits in our group can outshine tens of thousands of sheeple! Have your signs, flags and soundbites ready ....

A San Francisco ping...
COULD this be a Victory celebration today?????

I think our soundbites today should refer to the anti-war protesters as the lunatic fringe.... we represent the 75% of common sense Americans.

Thank you Mediaqueen,

At the last, totally unofficial, Bay Area chapter meeting, 8 of us sat around a table brainstorming as what to do next. The consensus of the group was NOT to go head-to-head with the anarchist and anti-war crowd.

The feeling (I can't believe I'm using that word) was to let 'em do their thing, destroy the city if they want, and let the public see their true motives.

Other views?

I'll have to disagree....I heard the same argument during the recount.

It's important to have common sense representatives on big news days like today at the location where the cameras are already....too often we try to create too many smaller, scattered events of our own instead of taking advantage of where the news is happening.

The "peace" protesters are too smart to get violent with us while the cameras are there... just don't let them goad us into looking ugly.

I believe it is our best interest and safety not to go head-to-head with the dirtbags, who are at their most violent right now. The police have their hands full already and they don't have time to protect us. Plus I'm not in the mood to get any residual pepper spray in my face.

If anybody still wants to go, I wish them well.

Bay Area Chapter:

As Drango and CounterCounterCulture stated in this thread, we discussed at our last meeting the question of counter-protesting when the "civil disobedience" (really riots) begin. We decided NOT to go head to head with these people. For several reasons:

1)The situation is fluid, unpredictable and dangerous.

2)While it's hard to just sit by and watch these thugs "take over the city," they are just making themselves look worse than they already do, and will most likely get arrested in large numbers. Let them pay the consequences for their actions.

3)You could actually end up making the situation worse for law-enforcement and the city. I wish they were using fire hoses on these people, but in lieu of that, they've got their hands full trying to control the rabble. Let's not make it harder for them.

4)We've got our own rallies coming up (Rallies for America this weekend in Sacramento and Santa Rosa and on 3/29 in San Francisco), where we can show support for our country and our troops. Instead of responding to the left's agenda, let's make our voices heard in our own (respectful) way.

These are the conclusions we came to, although everyone is of course free to make their own decision. If anyone decides to go down to the Civic Center, I would just caution them to be VERY CAREFUL!

Not so, in my experience. Don't underestimate these people. Many of them are truly fanatical.

Having said that, I admire you chutzpah and I'm not trying to rain on your parade. Iif you do go down there, please be careful!

Santa Rosa's Rally for America is Saturday (3/22) 1-4 PM--NOT Friday.

We are going to let the "retreads" do their thing and get arrested and locked away and generally make a fool of themselves, before we galvanize America for our war in Iraq on the weekend.

Let's us NOT react to their childish and borderline domestic terrorism acts!

Asymetric warfare! When outnumber, never ever hit them head-on. First rule of effective warfare.

If all that we are doing is reacting (to their events), we will be in second position, always. We need to plot and plan in spite of their activities. That is why the Rally for America planned by Bob J and other key members of Free Republic Network for America this weekend is such a stroke of genius and masterful planning.

I am telling you that here in Santa Rosa, CA (just north of SF), we are going to have well over 2-3,000 people show up in support of our troops at our rally--maybe even more as these "retreads" damage/destroy/obstruct our public infrastructure. Remember Santa Rosa is the "heart of lalaland!"

Let these "retreads" get arrested and taken to jail. The less of them around the better!

America and Americans are going to show their disgust with these scums--they already are disgusted with these anti-Americans!

We will galvanize America's overwhelming support in such a Sun Tzu move! But we must hold the line! Hold the line! Hold the line! Hold it till Saturday and Sunday! Then we'll blast them out of the waters!

HELP!!!!!!! PING!

I am downtown, it is unbelievable. There are dozens of helicopters above. Hubby and I have to go to the accountant today (!).

Are we going to have to go under Marshall Law?

I was able to get a bus to work and home tonight, but again they left me off at Van Ness like last night. The noise of the helicopters is deafening.

I walked past the Fed Bldg on my way home and I can HEAR people in the street now from my apt. I don't know what is going on but if someone has a telly or radio (hubby is doing accounts, I can't put it on)...Please tell me what is going on!

This is a little after the fact, but as near as I can tell, the "protesters" are still out there in full force. The police has succeeded in controlling some of the crowds, but they're gonna probably be at it all night. I'd skip the accountant today if I were you (and your hubby). Stay home, 'cause it's not worth it.
