Iran strongly rejects it helped Palestinian groups (Lie-detector overload!)
IRNA ^ | March 18 2003 | A liar

Tehran, March 18, IRNA -- Iran on Tuesday strongly rejected allegations of Tehran's financial assistance to resistant Palestinian groups, including the Islamic Jihad.

The reaction came from Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi when asked by IRNA to comment on a recent report of the Washington Institute for Foreign Policy Watch, which claimed Iranian financial assistance to resistance groups in Lebanon was funneled to Palestinian groups.

"Iran, based on its fundamental and transparent support of the Palestinian cause, backs the genuine ideals of the Palestinian people for freeing their lands from the Zionist regime's occupation, but it strongly rejects any (allegations of) financial assistance to Palestinian groups, including the Islamic Jihad movement," he said.

"Allegations of this type are made by pro-Israeli groups in America in order to deviate the world public attention from the ongoing terrorist and ruthless actions of the Israeli regime against the oppressed Palestinian people," Asefi said.

"While the Zionist regime is continuing its repression and terror against the Palestinian people, the pro-Israeli groups in America are trying to deviate the public opinion by resorting to outlandish and old methods.

"The Islamic Republic's moral and political support for the genuine cause of the Palestinian people is based on a fundamental and clear policy and rumor mongering of this type will not affect the legitimate struggle of the Palestinian people," Asefi added.

Iran will increase by 70 percent its funding to the the Islamic, the London-based Al-Sharq al-Awsat newspaper reported Saturday.

Ramadan Shallah, secretary-general of the Islamic Jihad, and Iran's spiritual leader Ali Khamenei held discussions in Tehran last week on boosting financial aid to the group, the daily said. According to it, Iran has decided to raise its funding to several Palestinians resistance groups and to provide financial assistance to Palestinians who have lost their source of income.

A source close to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard told Al-Sharq al-Awsat that Khamenei promised Shallah that Iran would increase by 70 percent the funds given to the Islamic Jihad.

Last year, a dispute broke out between Islamic Jihad and the Hizbullah regarding the money transferred to the two groups by Iran, the newspaper added.

The Syrians are improving on their past record because they know we'll lay the smack down on them. Maybe Iran has turned over a new leaf recently.

Since we got the resolution against Iraq, Syria has been acting better. This report is before the resolution last year. Maybe Iran has improved.

This denial by Iran is remarkable because Iran is supposed to help the jihad. All the Moslem states were told that it was their undeniable duty to help the jihad. If Iran hasn't helped the jihad, it's got a lot of 'splaining to do.

Right. Sure. And I'm a multi-billionaire who is on the verge of winning a Nobel prize. (And if you believe that, please FReepmail me...I have a bridge to sell you!)

An extremely vast amount of ISlamic Republican of Iran's budget goes to the funding of Palestinian terrorists. Recently Khameini met with Hezbullah, Islamic Jihad and Hamas to increase their budgets by 3 fold.

They lie between their teeth.
