U.N. Members Must Decide Overnight on Iraq - Blair

LONDON (Reuters) - British Prime Minister Tony Blair challenged U.N. members on Sunday to make their mind up "overnight" on a second resolution over Iraq. "There's a simple choice. People have got to decide whether they are going to allow any second resolution to have the teeth to make it clear that there is a real ultimatum, and that's what we are going to have to find out overnight," he told reporters on a plane back from a summit in the Azores.
As well as reinforcing President Bush's stated Monday deadline for a fresh vote on Iraq at the United Nations, Blair said he was not personally confident of breaking through the diplomatic impasse.
"It is difficult to know how we can resolve this," he said.

Hmmm. How to resolve this. Fight the war, win quick and clean. Hand Saddam over to the Iraqi people to do with as they wish, film the process and put it on television around the globe. Would that do it?

Sounds clear enough. My guess is Chirac will attempt some last minute concession just like Saddam does to the inspectors.

"It is difficult to know how we can resolve this," he said. I'm sure the Freepers could provide a few suggestions. As for me, I'd be fine with us pulling back from the UN as well as remembering those countries who supported us when it comes time to develop economic ties.

That's a stupid headline. The UN has had about a year to decide - overnight my a$$!

a year?
Hell, those idiots had TWELVE YEARS to enforce the international treaties and laws.
Instead, Bubba Clinton turned it into a debating society (that can't figure out the meaning of the word "dISarm".)

Debka says the bombs fly on Monday night. Not that I believe everything the say.
I guess that puts a little pressure on the diplomats. The French have not been reading their Von Clausewitz. War is the ultimate extension of diplomacy diplomacy, or something to that effect.

The French and everyone else should throw Clausewitz in the trash and read this article. (Very long, but very good.)

It's interesting from an academic standpoint, but it won't change the start of the war by a single minute. That decision has already been made.

The one thing that I think that is missing from this thread is a tribute to Spain who is our only ally other that Great Britain that has the balls to stand up and be counted amidst world scrutiny.
In my opinion Spain rocks.
