I just caught the commercial for Napolean on A&E. They are offering a sweepstakes with the grand prize, a trip to Paris. nice timing, A&E. Reminds me of that Far Side cartoon: "Hell of a birth mark, Ed."
Can you imagine the hair pulling going on in the board room? This thing had to be in production well before Jacques ChIRAQ dumped it into the crapper.

At least Napoleon wasn't born in France.

The 1927 silent film Napoleon is still worth watching.

He's the reason the french are so rotten. He got all the good ones killed off in his wars-- at least the one's Robespierre hadn't gotten to first.

That it is ! I saw it, with a FULL orchestra accompiment, when it was rerleased, in the '80s, in a HUGE venue ... the Chicago Theatre. It was incredible. Recently, it was on TCM and I watched it again. It is a masterpiece !

Napoleon BUONAPARTE, was Italian (of the lesser Genoese nobility), so France's greatest general was NOT French. Additionally, France's greatest leading man, Yves Montand was also Italian (real name, Ernesto Livi, I think). Their greatest contemporary singer, Charles Azavanour, is of Armenian heritage. All of their "greatest" philosophers (Sartre, Foucault, Derrida, etc.) pretty much stole all of their ideas from the Germans. Let's not forget the 1998 World Cup Team made up largely of Algerians and Africans.
In other words, few of the greatest achievements of the French for the past 200 years have been achieved by "Frenchman."
