(03/07/03) WHITE PLAINS - A member of al-Qaida is reportedly living right here in Westchester and is being sought by the FBI.
The FBI has not confirmed whether or not the information seized by the September 11th mastermind Khalid Shayk Mohammed is true. The information reportedly states that three suspected terrorists are living in the New York area.
A laptop computer, a cell phone and an address book taken from Mohammed's hideout in Pakistan may have produced new leads that terrorists who may be in New York City or in Westchester remain focused on more destruction, specifically plotting to attack metro area bridges, tunnels, hotels, etc.
Former NYPD terror task force investigator Paul Ragonese says in an open society like ours, there is little people can do to stop a random terror attack.

Scary--yes--but better to know where the enemy is living, and then take them out.
LOL--my mother just asked whether it was the Clinton home they were talking about.

Why are you suprised?
To all appearances, the 54-year-old Sheikh Kabbani sees himself as the catalyst for making his brand of Islam the dominant Muslim force in the U.S. However, most American Muslim organizations see dangerous divisiveness in his message. Kabbani gained the enmity of nearly every Muslim group in the U.S. on Jan. 7 when he delivered a speech to a State Department open forum.
In essence, the white-bearded Sufi charged that the ideology of extremism has been spread to 80 percent of the [American] Muslim population. He claimed the foremost Muslim student organization was directed by extremists and hinted that alleged terrorist Osama bin Laden was buying nuclear devices from the Russian mafia which could then fall into the hands of radical Muslim students in the U.S.

...his brand of Islam...How can that be? I thought Islam was "monolithic." At least, that's what the "Experts" here on FR keep telling me.
How can there be a "brand" of Islam when "all Islam" is the same, and evil?

That's what I would think too. Westchester only has a small airport - but there is always Indian Point.

When I was stationed in the country formerly known as West Germany we knew that elements of the Red Brigade and Baader-Meinhof Gang were headquartered in Bavaria. Interestingly, we never had a terrorist incident there, which means that the tangos held to the oft repeated advice not to poop where you eat.
That being said, you never can tell what Islamoterrorists are going to do next.
