My word. I don't post offen but garn does Cat Stevens' face show the pathetic decline of an era lost? I love his old music... Is this what happens to people who subcribe to "religions of of peace" ? how sad

?!? My word I love his early music.

Israel Rejects the Former Cat Stevens

The former Cat Stevens detained and deported from Israeli airport

Cat Stevens

Banned

While Middle East peace talks were underway in the U.S., a Jerusalem airport detained and deported Yusuf Islam, formerly known as Cat Stevens, alleging that he donated money to a militant Islamic sect on a previous visit.

The Wednesday visit was Islam's second aborted attempt to gain access to Israel. In 1990, he and his son were barred from the country. The Israeli government claims that on a 1988 visit to Jerusalem, Islam donated tens of thousands of dollars to a violent Islamic group known as the Hamas.

Islam arrived at the airport at 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday. When his name was found on a list of people banned from Israel, he was detained by airport officials. Islam claims that he was locked in a cell sans water or a bathroom for hours before he was finally deported. "I don't see any reason for this to happen in a time of peace," Islam said. According to an AP report, airport officials deny that Islam was mistreated in any way.

In other Cat Stevens news, VH1 will air Cat Stevens: Behind the Music on Oct. 1 at 9 p.m. The episode will tap various Stevens producers including Paul Samwell-Smith in addition to interviews with Islam himself. The episode claims to spotlight the "three lives" of the "Seventies superstar singer-songwriter" charting his earliest successes as a musician, his arrival as international star and ultimately his conversion to the Muslim faith, which marked the end of his recording career as Cat Stevens.

"It could help blow away some of those myths and erroneous stories that have circulated for years," Islam told RollingStone.com last month. "I hope people will finally realize that my life didn't change as much as it developed, and I always continued to be an artist. I made a choice to actively try to make a difference in the world, just as I wrote and sang about."

Hypocrite Alert!

"As a member of humanity and as a Muslim, this is my contribution to the call for a peaceful solution to the dangerous path some world leaders today seem to be taking," he said in a statement posted on his Web site.

This is stuff off his website...First he says he was a guy who totally outraged by the atrocities in Bosnia, Yeah ok, but why no bad comments about a certain Mr. H of Iraq who is doing exactly the same thing if not worse? I spent the better part of an hour scouring his website, and I couldn`t find anything except one article. One sentence where it says he spoke "sympathetically of his Muslim brother, Iraqi President Saddam Hussein"

Yeah OK Mr. "Islam"...Enough said

I had such a long conversation tonight with an old friend of mine. He was SO liberal for so long (like me)... even after 9-11 for a while... he and I had played in bands together over the years (http://www.trailofdead.com) and he has so completely now shifted to a pro-deal-with-the-shit-and-kill-the-terrorists point of view. He realizes what we all know, that the war is on our soil.

When I see the horrible pictures and understand the amazing reality we face now, I have patience and can wait for things like "Economic Recovery." I don't buy into sugar-daddy Democrat politikal "suck my voting constituency forming domestic social program bullsh*t" any more. I so totally admire this President for holding his ground so thorougly and unrelentingly, and being strong and taking all the shit he takes knowing that in the end the France's and Germany's of the world will realize we hauled their arses from the brink of hell in times past. Bush has totally won a lot of us former liberals over by remaining strong.

Let me qualify. I am a former totally liberal grunge f&c* from Olympia Washington who still loves Nirvana and the Melvins and all the other bands (i.e. again my old bandmates are found flailing at http://www.trailofdead.com).

BUT...

When Cat Stevens or any other stupid self proclaimed protected "artist" declares that "I am a member of humanity and as a Muslim this is my contribution to the call for a peaceful solution to the dangerous path some world leaders today seem to be taking" I have to vomit in a forcefull and unrecognizable way.

I see these anti-US protesters of our position in this war - for views these ungratefulls describe as being "dangerous" and stupid etc - as being nothing less than slackers and leeches who don't care anything about what we've done to help nations over the years.

They care nothing for we've done to help the French (bastards - think Normandy) and Germans (dumb and tall - think liberation from Hitler and Russia) and now they want to take something for nothing; they wanna bitch about GWB, who I view as a Completely Righteous Dude for standing strong against so much criticism from absolute insolets. France, and Germandy, and liberal idiots want everything and they give nothing back other than meaningless criticism about our "politics." I say go F&u* yourselves France and Germany and Liberal Protesters (my former friends).

!!!

IN crude analysis it seems to me that the Iraqi dictator is only partly eliminating these stupid weapons he has (and we ALL know he has them). The danger he himself faces now and has created for himself is of his own invention. And he bitches about what? Even his own expatriats dispute him and support us.

His compliance is at some pace like 10%. It's like he's driving at 10 MPH on a freeway or something. It's like his efforts are 10% of total disarming.

I don't think that 10% compliance with cease-fire terms is any better than having a heart muscle pumping at 10% efficiency. If my heart were to beat at some 10% efficiency I think I'd fall over dead.

Am I stupid or alone?

I didnt know he had supported Hamas and the fatwa on Salaman Rushdie.

Of course, every post-Cat Stevens story done on him sugar coats his conversion to Islam......obviously Islamocentrism is apparent, too, when covering former music stars

I guess he is trying to make sure he gets his 72 virgns when he dies
