my two dogs who love to go to pet smart are far better disciplined then about 90% of the brats that i see tagging along who scream ,whine and yes crap and wet through clothes. if you want an expensive evening out totally ruined just sit in the vicinity of a family of 4 to 5 brats throwing their dinner at each other whining screaming and yes filling their pants with all of the associated sounds and facial graphics oh yes dont forget the smell of fresh human feces. why dont you get a life

I tried to find the article I was thinking of on metromix.com and failed. I recall that it had a listing of bars that allow dogs indoors. Nonetheless, a search at that website under "dog friendly" brings-up a few interesting hits.
My understanding is that Chicago ordinances do not prohibit a dog accompanying its owner at an outdoor cafe, leaving it to the individual establishment to set its own policy. A web search under "dog friendly chicago" is helpful, but beware that the information may be outdated.
As for hotels, I recommend the Palmer House or the Hotel Monaco (both are in the Loop). Be sure to cash-in your Krugerrands before you go. Again, beware . . . most dog-friendly hotels only allow small dogs. Call to verify.

Again, beware . . . most dog-friendly hotels only allow small dogs.I suppose because small dogs are easier to control and would only cause small damage! Such a fallacy! They haven't met my Golden Retriever, or his predecessor -- both the gentlest, most polite, and best behaved dogs in the world. Neither of those huge animals ever harmed my house as much as one small, disobedient Schnauzer did in his lifetime!
