GAZA CITY — Three Palestinians, including a nine-year-old boy, were killed by the Israeli Army yesterday in the Gaza Strip, as Shaul Mofaz began his second term as defence minister with a vow to crack down harder on Palestinian fighters.

Israeli tanks thrust into the southern Gaza Strip refugee camp of Khan Yunis overnight after a large bomb flipped an Israeli personnel carrier against a wall, injuring two soldiers, an army spokesman said.

The incursion met fierce resistance, sparking gunbattles which killed two Palestinians and wounded 40, Palestinian medical sources said.

The Ezzedin Al Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, claimed responsibility for the blast and several other overnight attacks in the Khan Yunis area.

Palestinian security sources said Israeli troops blew up an eight-storey building which the army charged was used by snipers.

They said the 54 residents had received very short notice to evacuate the building and that the troops had used four of them as human shields as they were planting the explosives.

The same sources said seven of the injured sustained bullet wounds inside a hospital compound and added a mosque was partially destroyed.

Later yesterday, four Palestinian youths were wounded, two of them critically, when they visited the wreckage and Israeli soldiers opened fire on them, Palestinian medical sources said.

One of them, a nine-year-old boy, died of his wounds a few hours later. — AFP

Bloodbath?

By Arab standards, this isn't even a spanking -- just ask the Syrians about Hama.

The Palestinians deliberatly target school buses to massacre children. That is a bloodbath! Israel has every right to defend itself against terrorists within its territory, which includes Judea, Samaria, and Gaza.

Hah. "Blood" all over the place, and the kid doesn't even seem to have lost color in his face. How extraordinary, arab-freelancer ;).

He wouldn't be related to that sprightly palestinian "corpse" who fell of the stretcher and had to climb back up, would he?

Or would you?

By American standards, it sounds like a bloodbath.

Not after 9-11 or The Great White concert or many murder sprees. Even in America, we wouldn't look at this as a bloodbath.

Wrong. By American standards 9-11 was a bloodbath. The Passover massacre was a bloodbath. The deliberate murders at the disco in Tel Aviv, at Hebrew University, the bombing in Bali, in Kenya, etc. etc. etc. were bloodbaths. I don't think anyone takes pleasure when children are hurt or killed, but the Palestinians have a habit of making claims that don't exactly turn out to be truthful, and why do they put their children in the front lines of battle, and send them terrorist training camps? Something to ponder...

Remember when.

March 26, 2001 Monday, a PLO sniper shot and killed a 10-month
old Jewish baby girl in Hebron, Israel.

Great headling. Why don't we start reposting old ones about the PLO murder of civilians on airlines in the 70's? Ooops, that's not politically correct, never mind.

You neglected the USS LIBERTY.

I don't think anyone takes pleasure when children are hurt or killed...

Many do as evidenced by some of the posts on this site.

...but the Palestinians have a habit of making claims that don't exactly turn out to be truthful,...

As do the Israelis.

... and why do they put their children in the front lines of battle, and send them terrorist training camps? Something to ponder...

See the movie, The Patriot.

PS: The article's title was referring to occupation as 'bloodbath' not this incident.

Palestinian security sources said..

This pretty much eliminates any truth from the article. And to those who hide behind the Liberty story for your bigotry, you are no better than Osama.

"The Palestinians deliberatly target school buses to massacre children. That is a bloodbath!"

One more time, it doesn't count if the victims are infidels. I'd include the sarcasm tag but this is how muslims really think.

Palestinians wanted Intifada, and Palestinians got intifada. They really do not deserve a home inside of Israel, send them over to Jordan, to the true Palestinian state, and let King Abdullah have them, and give him the help that he needs to settle them there, for once and for all.

Jordan was their original home, wasn't it? The Arabs have just been using this manufactured Palestinian issue to beat the Jews over the head with for at least 55 years.

The article's title was referring to occupation as 'bloodbath' not this incident.

Would that be the occupation that ended, for the vast majority of Palestinians, a full decade ago with the Oslo Accords? The Israelis bent over backward to respect Oslo boundaries, even long after the Palestinian Authority purposefully initiated a war to undermine the peace process.

Good Lord, man, even after Sharon became Prime Minister, already well into the intifada, it was FOURTEEN MONTHS before the first IDF forces entered Oslo "A" areas. Got that? FOR OVER A YEAR, with Israelis being quite intentionally murdered weekly and even daily, en masse were possible, the Israelis continued to respect the boundaries they had ceded to the Palestinian Authority.

The incessant drone about occupation, occupation, occupation only works on idiots and the uniformed. You'll have to try and find them elsewhere. It won't work here.
