Eric Alterman Indicts Free Republic!!!
C-SPAN-Deaux Book TV ^ | March 1, 2003 | The Beloved Deb

Posted on 03/01/2003 3:31:49 PM PST by Deb

An hour ago on C-SPAN's "Book TV" uber-puke Eric Alterman went on a semi-coherent tirade about Free Republic.

While in the process of flacking his book..."The Myth of Liberal Bias" (or sumpin like that), he claimed that, during the Florida recount, the saint-like members of this forum posted the phone numbers and home addresses of the Florida Supremes for the expressed purpose of harassment and/or "whatever". The "whatever" was obviously the suggestion of violence.

He also said Free Republic was repsonsible for the flood of Republican activists who descended on the state and therefore was responsible for the Bush presidency.

This is one powerful place, Gumbas. Congratulate yourselves...the left-wing bows to your awesome strength.

The source of his tirade seemed to be his book which might be worth checking out. Just figure out how to do it without actually paying money for it.

Another fact he flung at his tiny, badly-dressed book store audience, was that people came to Free Republic and stayed for 5+ hours, making us an unbeatable force since Liberals suffer from ADD and can't stay with anything longer than the average bowel movement. (I paraphrased that last bit)

It's good to remember just how awful the media has been:

Remember when the press "discovered" the old mildly-intoxicated-while-driving Bush "scandal" a week before the election? Coincidentally, earlier that same day, Janet Reno told the press that she would be opening an investigation into Al Gore's pulling the plug on a multi-year drug investigation (after the Houston detectives cried foul at the cover-up) because the #1 suspect made a BIG $$$ donation to Al's campaign. A mob of "mainstream" journalists chased the ancient DUI story. The W. Times reported the Gore story.

When I asked a local NBC TV news manager why the Gore story was being covered-up, following three days of "DUI" coverage into the weekend before election day, this news boss said of the Washington Times, "That right-wing rag?! It's owned by the Moonies." I asked him whether he believed that Janet Reno would grant the Washington Times an exclusive? He conceded the point, but no mention of the Gore story appeared in Mr. Alterman's supposed "right wing" mainstream media. Who owned VNS, again?

I don't remember anyone posting addresses of the FL supremes but I do recall someone posting directions to Carol Robert's house- with no suggestions, of course. I think the news article already had her adress in it, so that was no feat.

I did. Don't bother.
Alterman begins with the premise that big circulation newspapers from coast to coast are alway endorsing conservative candidates and rejecting liberals, and then he takes off from there. The Barnes and Noble I was standing in when I was perusing Alterman's book began to spin around me and I had to leave.

Hah, C-Span is replaying this clown on Book TV. It's funny to hear him whine about FR, talk radio and the NRA.
