Eric Alterman Indicts Free Republic!!!
C-SPAN-Deaux Book TV ^ | March 1, 2003 | The Beloved Deb

Posted on 03/01/2003 3:31:49 PM PST by Deb

An hour ago on C-SPAN's "Book TV" uber-puke Eric Alterman went on a semi-coherent tirade about Free Republic.

While in the process of flacking his book..."The Myth of Liberal Bias" (or sumpin like that), he claimed that, during the Florida recount, the saint-like members of this forum posted the phone numbers and home addresses of the Florida Supremes for the expressed purpose of harassment and/or "whatever". The "whatever" was obviously the suggestion of violence.

He also said Free Republic was repsonsible for the flood of Republican activists who descended on the state and therefore was responsible for the Bush presidency.

This is one powerful place, Gumbas. Congratulate yourselves...the left-wing bows to your awesome strength.

The source of his tirade seemed to be his book which might be worth checking out. Just figure out how to do it without actually paying money for it.

Another fact he flung at his tiny, badly-dressed book store audience, was that people came to Free Republic and stayed for 5+ hours, making us an unbeatable force since Liberals suffer from ADD and can't stay with anything longer than the average bowel movement. (I paraphrased that last bit)

I'm going to Florida in a couple of weeks and I'm already getting the shakes.

I'm going in May. I'm not shaking, yet.

I'm thinking of getting a lap-top though.

Just checked back in - VERY good work. I'll make sure to leave a few annoying messages on his machine - need to come up with a game plan.

I am the one who posted the lengthly lists of Fax Numbers of relevant people in Florida - to include the Supreme Court's. I also set up the FReeper AutoFax Service. See this thread for example. Along with the fax numbers, several addresses of courthouses, county buildings and such were posted so that protestors would know where to go. I was heavily involved in Free Republic's efforts to counter Al Gore's illegal attempted coup. And I can state that I never saw anyone post the home addresses of the members of the Florida Supreme Court. Never! Eric Alterman is a bald-faced liar.

I do, however, accept his compliments on the power that we projected all the way to Florida and for crediting Free Republic for putting down Gore's bloodless coup attempt. Our fax efforts were specifically mentioned by Katherine Harris and others. We knew email was a bust and that it would take too long for snail mail so I went with the fax idea. I tell you, we burned up a lot of fax machines. It was great! We could watch on C-Span as the Democrat election supervisors were pretending that people had cast votes that they clearly had not. We could immediately react and flood that county building with thousands upon thousands of faxes telling them that "The Whole World Is Watching" and that we could clearly see them breaking the law. Just look through some of those "Freepers Fax Freely" threads and see some what we were up to.

According to the liberals, when 65,000 people march in San Franciso against President Bush, it is "democracy in action", and the "will of the people". When 1,000 people call CNN, it is a "right wing conspiracy". When 10,000 people protest the election in Florida, it is "frightening".

This is good!

Al Gore would be running the War On Terror.

If Al Gore had won, there wouldn't be any War on Terror. He'd have fiddled while New York burned. Then he'd have handed the entire matter over to the UN and trotted off to ask Naomi Wolf what tie he should wear to sign the Kyoto treaty.

Maybe the misguided Eric will stop by and learn something. Florida Freepers fought the Florida Rat army and their Rat army of lawyers and liars who descended on our fair state in Rat packs. Surprise, Mr. Alterman, we didn't let you steal the election in 2000. We informed ourselves and our neighbors - since your buddies at AP and Gannett in Fla. chose to print DNC "opinion" and PR as "news".

You still don't get it. When McAuliffe lied about Florida voters again in 2002, we sent another, stronger message which you and your absolutely left-wing mainstream media peers continue to ignore.

Open your eyes, Mr. Alterman. There are hundreds of left-wing hate groups doing more than skewing polls - their clever hate campaigns are being used by Saddam and Al Qaeda to undermine not only our President, but to put you and your loved ones at greater risk from real bad guys with WMDs.

What your left-wing media left out of the 2000 election re-re-recount coverage:

While the Democrats are still blaming those Votomatic punch card machines (like the one in Palm Beach) for Gore's loss, it was Bush who was hurt in the Votomatic counties...including my Republican Lee County. Impeachment manager Bill McCollum received more votes for Senate than did George W. Bush for President in Lee, Palm Beach, Charlotte counties. Think about that. Voters voted for Bill McCollum and Al Gore?

Oh, and those "hick" counties, the "red" counties in Florida with fewer than 10,000 voters? All but one of those 22 Florida counties voted for BUSH and they are ALL Democrat-majority counties with Dem. election personnel...and ALL recounted (as did EVERY county in Florida (just not 2 or 3 times 'til ballots could be manipulated for Gore))- and the HONEST Democrats in the small Florida counties showed mostly single digit changes in the recounts, mostly insignificant. As a friend said, "my Democratic neighbors are southern Democrats with family values and they don't trust Gore."

Did you hear of a Republican* voting twice? Republican* felons voting in large blocks? Republican* illegal immigrants? Republicans* in nursing homes and hospitals "helping" incompetent patients vote? Republicans* adding non-resident names to the voting rosters at the polling locations? Republicans* poking holes in ballots/ eating chads? Writing books about recounts and how to win elections by manipulating ballots? Did Republicans* have a GOTV center set up in a Palm Beach law office, with "ballot protest" forms and a telecom company (a little bankrupt firm called Telequest that sold to a company from India days later for millions $$), set up in advance, as well as a team of lawyers ready to put the "recount" campaign in place? Did a Republican* lawyer lie about an Illinois "dimple decision" to the national press and in court? Did Republicans* go into the inner cities and tell the voters that George W. Bush would send them back to slavery? Did a Republican* Florida Supreme Court ignore existing state law to allow carefully selected Republican* counties  recounts, and then change the laws as it was necessary to help Republicans*? Did a Republican* send a memo to every one of 67 counties - not based on Florida law - telling poll workers how to disqualify military ballots? Did Republicans* prevent over  500 Florida students from Liberty University (Jerry Falwell's school) from receiving their absentee ballots? Did Republicans* misdirect military mail? Make it exceedingly difficult for military overseas to vote? Did the Republican* press cover up the massive Dem. dirty tricks? Did a Republican* Florida elect our Republican House, Republican Governor and GHW Bush over Bill Clinton in 1992? Is the Republican* press still lying?

No.

* Democrat(s)

The false charge of "racism" was the most destructive lie of all...but of course the DNC knew exactly how that lie would play in the inner cities where they frightened young children with hateful lies. Teachers and parents had children tell them that they were  terrified that President Bush would make them slaves. "Racist" Republican Bush was a topic of discussion at the UN Conference on Racism, thanks to Jesse Jackson's destructive lies and an extensive, international, post-election, DNC-press anti-Bush PR campaign.

Over 180 nations railed against the "racist" American leadership during a week of Bush-American and Israel bashing, taking home the message to their respective countries. What enemy of America wouldn't be strengthened by this display of international enmity against US? The UN "racism" conference ended two days before 9-11-01.

Sorry, guess I'm not "over it."

Ever hear that people with ADD have the ability to hyper-focus when they are interested in something?

Uh oh. Another bell just rang in my head. What do you mean, like, able to focus on one thing to the complete exclusion of anything else, deaf to the world, for 6-8-10 hours, that sort of thing? Sort of obsessive?

FReepers affected races all over the country. We had a great Cynthia McKinney FReep down here in Atlanta, which made the local news. Right after that the media started reporting negative news about McKinney. And Zell Miller announced he was giving Denise Majette a $1000 campaign donation.

I think FR got the ball rolling in that campaign.

Jeez, I'm going to have to go to the pharmacy and pop a few anti-hubris pills.

Folks, please have some compassion for Mr. Alterman.

He's probably still in a state of shock after his visit to The Michael Medved Show...

What he did was take the true story of Bob Shrum and his buddies posting the phone numbers and addresses of the Republicans Electors on a special web site...and switch it to the lie about FR.

As I recall, the Dems did encourage people to call, harass and even confront the GOP electors, so they'd switch to Gore.

Great job, by the way.

And when you're done reshelve it near Rush Limbaugh's book...the liberals won't find that copy in a millon years.
