Most of us here probably see human nature as sinful, or fallen. At any rate, we find human beings imperfect. I believe the protesters - spurning the notion of an infinite, personal, perfect God - see man as the measure of all things, the definer of all morality, the only arbiter of what is "good" (a term most could not define) or "evil." Not wanting to seem judgmental (apparently, not a "good" thing to be), they eschew making that uncomfortable good-evil evaluation, and are left with the notion that everyone's basically good. No one, however, is good enough to be justified in punishing those whose flaw - if any - is being slightly less good.
