Interesting, one has to read half the story before discovering that Roberts is a Democrat.
If he were a Republican, it would have been in the title.....

Not surprised...the article originated in D.C. Although I'd say most political savvy Okie's know exactly who Roberts and Stipe are...and what they are. "Crooks"...would be a good start...Ha!!

And a damned fine fiddle player too. I used to work in a band with him before Gene Stipe (The Dark Prince) took him under his wing. Walt's (and Gene's) district in SE OK is really more of a fiefdom than anything approaching a republic. A bastion for Democrats, for sure, with Gene as the feudal lord, and Walt the young heir-apparent.
As I recall, Walt's legislative accomplishment in Oklahoma included getting the Bob Wills song Faded Love named the state's official "Western Swing Song". That single piece of legislation set Oklahoma's feet on the path to greatness.

Nice to see Stipe is still a "kickin' chicken".
Some day he'll be gone and it'll be like the departure of Huey Long...
corruption will take a major hit...and things will be much more boring.
(From a Ponca City/OKC/Stillwater resident of over 30 years...now involuntarily
relocated in the banana republic of Kalifornistan...)
