CNN's Peter Arnett heading to MSNBC

From staff and media reports Peter Arnett, whose Baghdad reporting during the 1991 Gulf War helped put CNN on the map, is heading to MSNBC, The Los Angeles Times reports.

The veteran foreign correspondent left CNN under the cloud of a retracted documentary he anchored. He will be the Baghdad correspondent for "National Geographic Explorer," which airs on Sunday nights, the newspaper reports.

Arnett will also provide live reports from Baghdad for MSNBC, the newspaper reports

We expect this kind of pro-Islamic bias from MSNBC, but shame on National Geographic. Shame.

I was waiting for this snake to slither out of his hole in time for the war. I got through on a Donahue talk show once to ask Arnett a question. I simply asked him "IF YOU WERE COVERING A WAR AND HAD INFORMATION THAT COULD SAVE AMERICAN TROOPS, WOULD YOU REVEAL THE INFO TO THE US OR ALLOW THEM TO BE KILLED?" He refused to answer the question, copping out by saying he would never find himself in that situation. I suggest any and all Freepers who get a chance to ask him in public, keep asking him this question! Let's see your hand, Peter!

National Geographic? They stuck in a glorification of an envirogeek on a documentary about the making of Lord of The Rings, as a modern example of a "fight against evil."

As I recall, he was fired from CNN for faking a story to the effect the the US had used poison gas against civilians.

Great catch MSNBC.

Do I get to see the Baby Milk Factory, their hospitals with wounded women and children and their estimates of casualties and massacres coming from the land of free speech? Oh goody.

NPR did the same. The leader of Green Peace speaks about how he was inspired about Tolkien, how the evil ring in Lord of the Rings represented nuclear weapons, and hinted how Tolkien would have supported the Green Peace movement.

That being said, I also heard that Tolkien was told this in his twilight years and scoffed at the idea.

Hmmmm? It was Exployer who put on the lastest Arnett hit piece - which included his personal interviews with the Iraqi publid - while all the time there was a "minder" there taking notes of what the people said.

Even though Arnett did qualify the interviews because of that, the whole thing was how terrible war was going to be for the people of Iraq. There was not one word about how these people are treated by Sadaam.

The family he showed was a SOCCER PLAYER who had a better than average lifestyle.

Anyway ... after the Arnett hit piece, they also showed another hit piece on the oil from Kuwait. It started by showing OUR tanks riding across the desert. Then the camera pans to the edge of the water, which is clogged with oil - and the oil is slogging up on the beach - and the stain stretches for miles. The implication being, of course, that the USA being there was the cause of this oil disaster after Gulf I - and ... they never mention it was Sadaam who lit the oil wells which really caused all the oil spills. Pathetic! I'm not sure I believe anything Exployer does anymore - and if they are going to hire Arnett - it's not a good sign.

I thought maybe he would go back to Iraq and hide under the same desk he hid under last time. I'm sure he is for Saddam this time like he was twelve years ago.

Tolkein was a pretty strong Christian. I bet he would have laughed his butt off at that assertion.
