I sometimes like Graham's stuff but to me he acts like he feels guilty that he's from the South. Graham also defended Bill Maher remarks about 9/11 on his show. He says Maher is a good friend of his. I'm glad he left Charleston.

I sincerely hope that someone can ping Michael Graham so he knows about and possibly reads this thread. I second the comment that his "Redneck" book is a fine piece of work. Very funny. Very thoughtful. And takes a different but persuasive tack on the question of "What it means to be Southern." I won't spoil the fun by describing any details. I simply give a two-thumbs up for the book. My daughter got it for me for my birthday, and both I and my wife have enjoyed it thoroughly. I think that most Freepers will also enjoy it, even if you are a Yankee -- because much of what Graham writes about occurred during the many years that he has lived with Yankees, not Southerners.
