Actually a friend of mine has had two BBQ’s lately for family and some neighbors. He had a Rabbit both times. Tastes like chicken. Pretty good. One of the Rabbits he bought was from a Rabbit farm in NC. The guy said that business is booming. Apparently Rabbit is becoming popular.

Some type of spiced sauce made mostly of various fish guts blended.

Sorta like Thai Prik Num Bah, or Vietnamese Nouc Mam.

Yummy.

The meat of meat-eating birds and beasts is pretty hard to take. In Asia dog is edible because domestic dogs are raised eating primarily rice and NO meat. Dogs on this side of the Pacific are inedible for non starving people.

Well, IMHO there is such a thing as starving with dignity.

“Yeah, I’m skin and bones and barely have the energy to stand up, but at least I never ate THAT stuff....!!!”

Besides, I got about 75 pounds of dried beans and split peas stored away and another 50 or so of pasta, so it’s gonna be a LONG, LONG time before I eat a beetle!

The squirrel that keeps coming on my porch and stealing the bird food, he’s another matter!

The various fish sauces serve the same function as soy sauce, they stimulate the “umami” (savory or protein) taste buds.

In small doses they can really bring out the flavor of other foods. They are a related to Accent (Remember Accent? Pure MSG)...

No grits?

Since they stone-ground their grains, they got plenty of grit in their diet.

"...and give us this day our gritty bread,...".

I always wondered what to do with those quibbebs growing everywhere in the garden. Thanks for this great idea!

Yes, I’ve eaten it, as rabbit stew, and it’s very good. Like chicken, but with more taste.
