Could Davis be recalled? Potential scenarios are intriguing

Virtually every California governor has faced the verbal threat of a recall, uttered in anger by someone who didn't like something that the incumbent did, or did not do. And that's about as far as it's gone.

Is the newly minted recall drive against Gray Davis to be taken any more seriously? Maybe. Those pushing the Davis recall have more political heft, and the media are treating it more credibly.

I think it was Abe Lincoln who said something like,
"You may fool all the people some of the time; you can even fool some of the people all the time; but you can’t fool all of the people all the time."

Maybe enough people are beginning to understand that the promise made by democrats like Davis are thinly disguised lies. I would like to see Davis recalled out a sence of social justice.

Recall is such a sissy way out. He was just reelected a few months ago! I say the people of Cali should just own up to their stupid decision for 4 years.

democRATs try 'do overs,' make up rules as they go along, keep counting votes till they win, etc. We shouldn't.

If you could have prevented the Titanic from sinking, or would you let a lot of good folks go down, and just shrug your shoulders and say, "That's the way it goes!".

Oops, sorry, your name says it all ;-)

Haha! I'm not that cruel!

But the people of Cali aren't helpless and innocent. They elected him and can elect to leave the state anytime they want (much like I left NY withing a year of the Rodham victory, as I had pledged!)

So sure, I would help the Titanic passengers.

But nope, California had the chance to dup, Davis a few short months ago. They failed to. They knew what they were getting themselves into.

So no sympathy from me.

Huh???? You compare Dem changes in candidates such as the Torch to a legimate and time-honored way to remove an inempt politician. In the City of South Gate in LA County, three city council members and the city treasurer were just recalled by an 80% margin. They were a bunch of crooks. You would have this city live with the mess they created until their term expired. Where is the logic in that? Gray Davis won because Bill Simom ran an inept campaign. I had to hold my nose while voting for him.

If indeed you are from NY, the best thing would be for NY to have a recall law so as to rid itself of the Hildebeast.

Gov Dufus was ripe to lose last election. I have stated here often that if Simon would have not played a PC campaign he would have won. If he would have gone after the ILLEGALS he would have won. The pubbies just won't run a true conservative. Ergo, they will lose again & time is short because this illegal vote fraud will keep the commies in forever here.

Hey,

All I'm saying is that tactics like that, recounts, etc, just stink as far as I am concerned. Davis hasn't done anything like those 3 crooks you reference, I am sure. He just plain stinks!

Davis won because he got more votes than Simon. Let the other side go on about such issues. If you catch Davis in a nakedly criminal situation, bust him. Anything shy of that is just sore politics, to me anyway.

And I am born and raised in NYC, and voted with my feet when it was clear to me that NYC and NYS were lost, and they didn't deserve people like me in their workforce. :-)

A lot of Californians are moving, and businesses too. It looks to be going from bad to worse. But that does not mean those of us who voted against the Dofus deserve him. If we can get rid of him by recall, then why not try?

If Recall gets on the ballot the Democrats
will be begging Davis to resign in order
to try to save control of the Governorship.
He could never win a recall election.

While I welcome this recall effort, there is a danger in all this. If Republicans don't get out the vote for a Republican successor, another democrat is likely to step into Davis' office. He can then run again as an incumbent who "can't be blamed" for the problems he "inherited" from Davis.

There are literally millions of California Republicans who did not vote in the 2002 election, and I see no effort to change this.
