Did you know that a particularly lethal bacteria grows in the mouths of Komodo dragons? It is so lethal that the giant lizards have only to nip you hard enough to break the skin, and within a couple hours your're dead!
Maybe other giant reptiles, or even dinosaurs, had that capacity.
As you may have already guessed I don't cotton to the idea of comets as dragons. Sorry.
