The head of the delegation, a former American marine, has been deported from Turkey for trying to enter the country with a ?world citizen? passport after renouncing his United States citizenship.
Turkey deported him to where, precisely?--the world? Because that's what his phoney-a$$ passport says.

Someone please allow this buffoon into Iraq before the JDAMs begin to fall like a gentle summer rain. I do not want this gentleman to miss his chance to become a martyr for peace.

"...and plans to travel through the Balkans were aborted as “too dangerous”.

...whereas standing arm in arm singing Kumbiyah while staring up at a laser guided munition clearly headed directly at your nose with Saddam's henchmen standing just behind and to the left of you with a gun to your head just in case you get cold feet is not?

He is being held this weekend in an Italian jail and is facing deportation to the United States. His mother, Pat, who is continuing on the journey to Baghdad, said: ?That would be the very worst outcome. It would be a disaster for him.?

Yes, and since he has renounced his US citizenship, an INS detention center is where he belongs.

INDEFINITE SENTENCE: A number of the inmates at the INS's detention center in El Centro Calif., are serving de facto life sentences because their countries of origin won't take them back.

He had warned them any breakdowns “would be the work of the CIA”.

News flash for you, buddy. The CIA probably either is ignoring your antics entirely, or hoping that you get through unmolested, so as to do a service to mankind by dying.

Geez. "National Lampoon's Middle Eastern Vacation"- starring the folks from DU.

I was wondering how this trip was going. I haven't heard anything about them since they left. Thanks for posting this, Ivan. It's just too funny.

Thanks for posting this, it's priceless.

“We are buying our own hypodermic syringes”, said Williams. “They could just as easily give you HIV with the needles in Iraq.”
What? There aren't any needles? Well why not? Saddam has been selling Billions in oil every year for food and medicine for his people. Where's the breakdown here?

Now if this jackass, Nichols O’Keefe, has renounced his American citizenship (and he has) then why should the US let him back into the country? Under what auspices? Does he have a visa of some sort? Can anyone help me understand how/why he would be allowed back into the US with a US passport.

Thanks for posting this...I need a good laugh.

plans to travel through the Balkans were aborted as “too dangerous”

If they think the Balkans are dangerous, wait a while in Bagdad and some friends of mine all show them dangerous.

"These people are almost funny, in a black comedy sort of way. ;)"

Take out the word "almost" and, as usual, I agree 100%.

I'd love to see someone with talent make a short story or play based on their misadventures. I am laughing at every thing these "Human Shields for Saddam" try to accomplish.

I wonder if he ever read "The man without a country"?
