Forget the Pyramids: That stately, sand-dusted figure on the National Geographic cover is a babe - and she's wearing nothing but three strategically placed shells.
Margaret Mead never looked like this. Then again, neither did the Geographic, whose first swimsuit issue hits the stands Saturday, 18 days ahead of Sports Illustrated's annual bikini blowout.
Showing all that skin may be a stretch for a magazine whose usual cover lines run to "Indus: Clues to an Ancient Civilization" and "The Magic of Snowy Owls."
Nevertheless, the editors of the venerable Geographic believe they've remained true to their mission.

Watch out Sports Illustrated! No more nekkid aboriginal people - now real honest-to-goodness babes from next door.

Just as long as they don't include a current photo of the gal with the green eyes who appeared in NG many years ago. Someone located her and ran an updated picture of the aging lass. The years and life in Afghanistan have not been kind to her.
BTW, get a load of the pyramids on the gals pictured in the preview of the upcoming NG swimsuit issue....

I'm not surprised, right before Clinton's term was up, National Geographic brought in a few of his appointees. None of whom had any background in science...they were lawyers.

Your posted photos are very thought-provoking. It seems to me that American youths of the MTV generation, with their multiple body piercings, are only 1-2 generations away from attaining the same look as the negress with the lip and the embedded rhinestones.
And our punctured American youths think they are so "progressive" and "hip." They are really just retrogressing into the pagan practices of the past.
