Give a bureaucrat a uniform, badge and a gun, and they seem to forget they serve the taxpayers, NOT their supervisor or some upper-level functionary.

Far too many allow themselves to be turned into and/or used as jack-booted thug types ... ala Weaver/WACO etc etc.

I mean it's not like they don't understand they can't be fired ... or even held accountable in some effective way. It looks like the bulletproof, bureaucratic-CYA game to me.
