She confiscated a scanner, two two-way radios, his camera, a cell phone and his pistol? I didn't know they were illegal. We'd better warn all the hunters not to carry guns; other visitors better not carry cell phones or cameras. I carry most of these items with me every time I go through the forest; I've run into groups of illegals many times while there. I've talked with the rangers and the Border Patrol several times, and they've never questioned my having the items with me. I wonder if this ranger has an ulterior motive? Could this be called arbitray and capricious enforcement of the law?

The Park Service generally does not allow hunting - they probably should, you should see the deer population explosion in Valley Forge Historic Park.

Why don't we ask them about this new policy. Heck, I and my kids had two-way radios out there when we were in the park last week. We had other items that may have been confiscated under this new policy.

I wonder what reg was broken that led to the arrest and search of these hikers.
I recall a story about a punk school kid sneaking a firearm into school in his backpack. The kid was suspended and shouldn't have been there, the security guard knew this. He was also entering through an "irregular" entrance.
Lawyers got all charges dropped because the search of the backpack was done illegally without probable cause.

Only real criminals have rights. Good Citizens are the ones that get harrassed.
