Park Ranger Cites Militia Leader, Seizes His Gun

A National Park Service ranger cited militia leader Chris Simcox Sunday for carrying a loaded weapon and operating without a permit at Coronado National Memorial in southeastern Arizona.

The chief ranger at the park south of Sierra Vista, Thane Weigand, said it appeared Simcox and William Dore were conducting a patrol of the border. "They were doing a special activity inside the park that's not sanctioned by the park," Weigand said.

Simcox, founder of the Tombstone group Civil Homeland Defense, has been conducting citizen patrols of the border area, but he said that's not what he was doing Sunday afternoon. He said he was simply hiking with Dore.

They were driving along Border Road when they came to a fence with a sign that said no vehicles were permitted, Simcox said. So they parked the van and walked past the fence along the road, not knowing the fence was the park boundary, Simcox said.

"Next thing I know, there's somebody waiting in the bushes for us," Simcox said.

It was a park ranger, who said she had been watching the pair, knew who they were and what they were up to, Simcox said. He and Dore were detained for about 3 1/2 hours, and some belongings were seized, Simcox said. Those belongings included a scanner, two two-way radios, his camera, a cell phone and his pistol.

Weigand said the charges against Simcox and Dore are misdemeanors.

Joe, You jumped in to a hornet's nest here. That post from Dead Corpse excoriating me for supposedly (I hadn't) caving into an incident of abusive of authority by a national park ranger, began when he posted his solution, which was the explicit threats to commit a violent felony with a firearm against that federal official.

Then you came along and essentially seconded what he said ("It was built on blood and guts, those who were not afraid to speak out and stand their f-ing ground"). It appears from your reply that apparently you did this without having read what was behind Dead Corpse's rant that you replied to. Sorry that you innocently got caught in the middle.

"What the sam hill are you talking about?"

I'm Boot, Sam's my brother.

ROTFLMAO, I resemble that remark, mister!

No, I didn't read any of that. My post was a response to his comment about California.

I have asked the moderator twice to remove what you posted. I don't take kindly to this accusation that is completely, 100 percent not true.

Go ahead and post your explicit threats to commit a violent felony with a firearm against a federal officer

You ought to calm down a little and watch what the hell your are accusing people of. And I still want the post removed.

In the future Mr. Boot Hill, I suggest you calm down, and think before you make such serious accusations.

Thank you.

It was something that you could do in the future, not a accusation that you had done so in the past. On one hand I can understand your surprise at my initial response to you, but in all fairness, you should have looked a little closer at what Dead Corpse had been posting before jumping in to the fray. Sorry that I ruffled your feathers unnecessarily.

Screw the freaking thread. I posted to him and quoted his remark about California. Try looking at what I quoted at the top of my thread.

You need to slow down friend.

I will leave you to your little hornets nest. Have at it.

"so incensed at law-breaking immigrants that he goes out and breaks the laws himself is not really an advocate for law and order."

And the law, boldly working outside the Law becomes a law unto itself with the aid of the judicial system. This is what the Communists did. They had a perfectly good Constitution; they simply allowed their lawful leaders to work outside that Constitution as we are now doing. It issued in their enslavement.

If you think that the courts will correct this you know very little about the Bar or about the mechanics of power.

Careful. That may cut it too close to "advocating violence" that just got me parked on the sidelines for the last two days.

Hope everything works out well for you. Good Luck.

"That is a non-response to my point. But if it makes YOU feel better, so be it. You HAD to have heard this from SOMEONE....or read it SOMEWHERE....or you work for the government and were TOLD this by someone? Which is it?"

I wonder whether your "point" is vital to you due to naivete, gullibility, innocence or something else.

You have no earthly understanding that people can have had this experience and have the need to seal their lips as to source for reasons of their own jobs, safety or sanity? Or that the poster's courage in relating it here was meaningful and somewhat comforting to others who have been stunned with the same experience at their place of employment but wouldn't dare to post or acknowledge it to anyone else?

There is, on the other hand, a chance that you work for the side that wants to expose anyone whom they can prove to be "loose-lipped" because you support the tattle concept as used in the late Nazi Germany and Russia and currently being encouraged by government entities here (document that for yourself from recent posts at this forum or from CNN website which you would surely trust).

If not, yours is a dream world long lost. Please, we need you not take it seriously! Stay ignorant as long as you can and continue to believe only what you can hear from the "prop-agenda" sources.

Freedom to speak is very missing in many parts of the nation for some segments of the population on quite a number of subjects. The rest will learn of it gradually as confronted. If you have been here awhile and don't notice the effects of it you may never "see" it. It would certainly be encouraging to hope that there are some left truly innocent who do not have to deal with it.

Yours from inside The Beltway.

You need to realize that asking for a "source" in no way indicates a 'position taken'--by the person asking for the source. It is simply a polite way of verifying the information stated by the poster. In this case, I asked:
You HAD to have heard this from SOMEONE....or read it SOMEWHERE....or you work for the government and were TOLD this by someone? Which is it?

I was attempting to ascertain the GENERIC (as I asked for NO names etc) source or if the poster's comments were HIS opinion as he stated:

Everyone that works for the government in any way what-so-ever has been given instructions to "turn in their neighbor" for the slightest suspicion of anything... Now, someone is gonna ask me to prove that...sorry, I can't as it was done... "off the record" in the name of "Homeland Security"...

Or whether he actually had a 'source' of some type for his comments.

Your comment seems to be posted in support of the original poster, but does NOTHING to answer my question either. Don't assume my position on this issue. Just recognize that asking for a 'source' ---even a generic source in this case---is an acceptable question on Free Republic. The poster chose to not answer and that ended the discussion between he and I. I'm not sure what YOUR point is. You seem to have a rather heady bunch of steam built up....and for the life of me, I can't figure out why.

They had a perfectly good Constitution; they simply allowed their lawful leaders to work outside that Constitution as we are now doing. It issued in their enslavement.

And here is an example of those "lawful leaders."

"Federal and state lawmakers have targeted Mr. Simcox for hearings to determine if he has violated any laws in forming the armed militia organization and posting its members on private land to stop illegal aliens, smugglers and drug dealers.

The hearings are being sought by Rep.-elect Raul Grijalva, Arizona Democrat; Gov.-elect Janet Napolitano; current Arizona Gov. Jane Hull; and state Rep. Robert Cannell, Yuma Democrat, and are expected to focus on the Tombstone Militia and other civilian militia groups and citizen patrols that have sprung up along Arizona's border with Mexico.

Our gun grabbers have been hard at work to shut down Simcox and company. Looks like they are for the moment atleast succeeding.

takenoprisoner posts:   "Federal and state lawmakers have targeted Mr. Simcox for hearings to determine if he has violated any laws in forming the armed militia organization and posting its members on private land to stop illegal aliens, smugglers and drug dealers."

Too easy! This isn't a problem, it is a tremendous OPPORTUNITY for Simcox.

All he has to do is set up his own parallel "hearings" to investigate whether Rep. Raul Grijalva, Gov.-elect Janet Napolitano, Gov. Jane Hull; and Rep. Cannell are in violation of the U.S. Constitution, their own state Constitution, Federal and State laws and their respective oaths of office.

I'm sure he can find willing local and national radio, TV and internet sites willing to cover such an event as delicious as this. Off hand, I can think of several nationally syndicated right-wing radio talk show hosts that would give their eye teeth for an opportunity to be involved in this. Can you imagine FR not just covering this, but actually sending FReepers?

Deliver the "subpoenas" to the politicians under the full glare of camera, lights and microphones. Present citizen-witness after citizen-witness telling of the illegal aliens, drug smugglers, murderers and rapists they have had to endure because of the criminal failures of the "defendants" (they must always be referred to as "defendants"). Present legal experts to testify as to the illegality of state and federal officials ignoring their lawful duties. Present LEO, Border Patrol and other experts to testify that all this is official policy, coming down from the top.

When the governor, et al., try to subpoena Simcox for their hearings, publicly threaten to jail any person interfering with the "court's" process. Appoint (and arm in full view) a "bailiff" just for that purpose (it for show, people, it's called theatre).

The whole idea is here is to use street theatre to publicly ridicule the governor and especially that idiot Grijalva on a national level and focus attention to the immigration problem in a way that can't be ignored, and to raise the issue that elected criminals, such as these, WILL either change their policies or risk being held accountable.

Make up your mind. Do you want to just sit there and piss and moan and give up or maybe post angry, empty, and anonymous threats on some internet forum? Or do you want to do something that just might work?

Another thought along the same line. Get comedian Dennis Miller to act as "Committee Chairman" of the hearings. He's a conservative and would go for that in a New York minute (and would even have some good inside contacts on how to set it up). Get P.J. O'Rourke to write some of his devastating columns on the "hearings".

Another: When the "other side" tries to serve "their" subpoenas on Simcox, just ignore them, tear them up in front of the cameras while chanting "Hell no, we won't go". Make them drag him in to court where Simcox will loudly demand (for the cameras) "If Grijalva, Napolitano, and Hull won't honor his subpoenas, then I won't honor theirs!"

Even when the cameras are turned on Simcox in the official hearing (which of course he will be forced to appear at), he has to be coached on how to turn their hearings into an extension of his own street theatre.

Remember, the goal here is to humiliate, ridicule and expose these public officials (and by extension, their co-conspirators in Wash, DC) as perpetrating a criminal fraud by allowing and condoning the illegal immigration.
