The Democrats are in the process of shutting down the Senate to stop the GOP from chairing Senate hearings.

This is going to be two years of total war. Let's see if the media notices!

Exactly, precious political capital being used on a minor issue.

The governors don't appoint Senators, the Legislatures do.

Yes, and here in Washington state, the state house has one more Rat, and the state senate has one more Pubby, so we could have one Rat and one Pubby senator instead of two Rats, Osama Mama Murray and Maria Cantwelldothejob.

Pray that the Majority learns how to fight legally, and win.

Seems like the Rats are always pulling something like this, we here at FR are constantly in a frizzy over their shanagans..........

Senate votes are the closest we have to fair elections...

Do you think that Hillary! would have been appointed by the NY legislature? Besides eliminating the problem of campaign finance, you'd also eliminate the "carpetbagger" issue of waltzing into a state and claiming the seat.

The biggest reason for states appointing senators is that it completes the tie between the people, the states, and the federal government. The state legislatures define the congressional districts, but the people vote for state legislators along different district boundaries. If people take care of their states first, the state legislatures would appoint senators more in line with the people's wishes. You would also see less of a tendancy for senators to endorse state money being sent to Washington only to be doled back out to states with strings attached.

The GOP stuck it to the rats in the first day of House operations....changing the rules to accept food and travel from non-profits ( I think) the rats were fuming as they wern't informed ....of course it passed anyway.

What's the prognosis to drive the correct 2/3 to 1/3 split on committee funds and staff......?

I wrote both Sarbanes and Milkulski

I watched you participating in the debate for the committee chairmen and frankly Im disgusted. Please do not obstruct the functioning of the senate for the sake of a political point. There is important work to do.

As I've said, if we could return to strictly geographical House districting (I think this was just done in Iowa - there is hope.) I would be thrilled to repeal the 17th amendment for all the reasons you stated and more.

Right. While I'm waiting for the action to resume, I'm having a fantasy of Frist giving Hillary! a heart transplant without anesthesia. Lord knows she could use one.

Just e-mailed both Boxer and Feinstein. It won't change anything, but they have to know that we're going to hold their feet to the fire.

These two arrogant b****es had better remember that there are a lot of Republicans in this state (hard to believe, but there are), and there are also a lot of independents who are getting fed up with the misinformation being fed to them by the lamestream media .

Usually 15 to 30 minutes this has been closer to an hour.

Brit Hume says "Republicans claim that Democrats are attempting to stop them from taking over the Senate." Was the third headline.

For Ohioans, Voinovich still has staffers in the office, Dewine has a recording on stating "normal" office hours.

Voinovich is at (202) 224-3353.

I reminded them we are finally in control, now keep it that way.
