Rock star Pete Townshend has been released on bail by police after he admitted viewing images of child pornography on the internet.
His solicitor John Cohen said officers had interviewed Mr Townshend for one hour and twenty minutes at Twickenham station, south-west London.
The guitarist had been detained on suspicion of possessing and making indecent images of children and of incitement to distribute such images.
Mr Townshend has admitted he gave his credit card details to see a child porn website, but insisted he had done so for research and was not a paedophile.
Police earlier spent over four hours searching the 57-year-old's home in Richmond, south-west London.

They arrived at the house at 1500 GMT on Monday and were accompanied by four detectives who interviewed him.
The operation was agreed by mutual consent said Mr Townshend's solicitor.
A Scotland Yard spokeswoman outside Mr Townshend's home said: "There will be a thorough and detailed search of the premises. It will take as long as necessary."
She said a search warrant had been obtained and computer forensics officers were among those attending.
OTOH, there doesn't seem to be any indication that he ever actually diddled any kids. He's not Public Enemy #1.
When I read that he was claiming victim status for himself this occurred to me as well, that he might claim to be searching for his own unholy grail...

Scotland Yard said he (Townshend) had been arrested under the Protection of Children Act 1978 on "suspicion of possessing indecent images of children, suspicion of making indecent images of children and suspicion of incitement to distribute indecent images of children."
Unshaven and wearing a black jacket, Townshend had earlier been driven away from his home by a side entrance.
The team of Scotland Yard detectives arrived at the rock star's home at 3pm, armed with a blue plastic crate containing evidence bags. A police spokeswoman at the scene said the detectives were conducting a thorough search that would take "as long as necessary".
She declined to say how many officers were involved, but said they included members of Scotland Yard's paedophile unit, major investigation team, and child protection units, all of whom are attached to Operation Ore, the largest inquiry into child pornography undertaken in the UK.
The spokeswoman said the officers, including experts in computer forensics, were there by prior arrangement, although they did have a search warrant. Speaking outside the house, Mr Cohen also said the meeting was by mutual agreement. "We approached the police and said that we should meet," he said. ---snip---
