You are correct. This was quackery in the purest form. My aunt married an older man around the 1930's that needed help in the prowess department. He went to Del Rio, Texas, to get the goat gland operation and returned home to Tennessee to only die of tetanus a month later. I lived in Del Rio, Texas, during the 1960's while XERF was at its peak and selling quack remedies from Ciudad Acuna, Mexico and what went on was common knowledge (Wolfman Jack was one of the DJ's and the daughter of another was one of my class mates). Brinkleys' mansion was along Las Vacas Blvd. on your way to the Mexico crossover. This guy was the king of quackery. His life would make a really good mini-series.
