Until Germany can demonstrate that it has regained the ability to find its ass with both hands, it ought to be ignored.

The Germans and their European brethren find anything other than appeasement baffling. No news here. On to Iraq.

Wieczorek-Zeul is a Green, a party headed by Joschka Fischer who in the 60's was a street brawler who led anti-American demonstrations.
After the glory days of the Wirtschaftwunder when Germany, protected by the US, became the economic engine of Europe, the country has gone into decline, politically pathetic and economically bankrupt.

There has NEVER been any comprehension on the part of Germans, for the rather free-wheeling scope of freedom that Americans seemed to take for granted, at least until recently, from the days when the Republic as being established, and as the territories were being forged into States. Otto von Bismarck was supposed to have remarked, that God watches out for "fools, drunks, children and Americans." Implying that Americans are not good rational sensible people like Germans, who seem to be partial to marching in rows and adhering to a strict hierarchy in their social and business dealings.
Germany never had any cowboys, and do not seem to understand the concept of "cowboy justice".

If my name were Development Aid Minister Heidemarie Wieczorek-Zeul, I'd probably be crazy too.
I wonder what "development aid" is? Passing out condoms to refugees?

Ignore the annoying leftism and anti-Americanism for a moment:
Why is the Minister for Development Aid publicly offering her opinion on security matters?
What kind of ship is Schroeder running? It's like the head of USAID offering his opinions on foreign policy without referring the matter to Secretary Powell.
The German government is now strictly amateur hour.

"Bush's priorities are baffling to me," said Development Aid Minister Heidemarie Wieczorek-Zeul, renewing an argument by many German officials that solving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict should come first. The Germans want to "solve" the conflict by ordering Israel to accede to whatever demand Arafat makes, including giving all of Jerusalem to the Palestinians.

In a perfect world like this . . . the appeasers might have a point.
But we've learned it's not a perfect world so everyone who truly believes in freedom must be prepared and willing to do this to those leaders and countries who are threatening our freedom . . .

"War must not be the extension of politics or the economy by other means," she was quoted as telling the on-line service of Der Spiegel magazine. How strange that she quotes Von Clausiewicz and negates his dictum in the same paraphrase.
In his classic book "On War" (which most Western military officers are very familiar with) he says very clearly that violence is the perpetuation of politics through violent means.
I wonder if the "almost quote" was pure serendipity?

Superb set of links! I've always contended that the cream of Germany immigrated to the United States. It's no wonder the leftovers find Bush baffling . . . and Hitler charming.

"Bush's priorities are baffling to me," said Development Aid Minister Heidemarie Wieczorek-Zeul, renewing an argument by many German officials that solving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict should come first. oh, they rile against Cow Boys while they act as the Arabs' Butt Boys. Israel is under no violation and is seeking ways to comply with unenforceable chapter 6 UN resolution.
Iraq is in violation of peace breeching Chapter 7 UN resolution.
I find the Germans baffling in that they still seek to purify the free world's business while targeting the Jews at the same time.
To: Vigilanteman
This kind of rhetoric coming from Germany is all the more reason to pull US troops out of Germany. And as for the charge that Bush is trying to destract from our economy-which is being targeted by people such as terrorist tyrants like Saddam Hussein is laughable considering Germany is in serious trouble and they continue to support Schroeder based on the anti-Americanism. This world is a sick place and Germany is a moralless, destructive and spiteful country that has no right to tell us how immoral they think we are.

When you have a head like a block of lead and are not used to hearing leaders tell you the truth, then I guess it baffling to you.
If that is incorrect, then you are just:
STUPID
