How about adding Senator Hitlary for the "F----ng Jew B----rds" comment.

I'm not so sure, could be a show of unity and support. Whatever the case, I say good on him and any other senator who comes forward. Who will be the first Dem to show courage?

Does anybody have a link or whatever to a transcript of when Byrd referred to "white niggers"? I want to read it for myself.

McConnell for Majority Leader. He's playing the best hand throughout all of this.

Wilkins, for one, has little sympathy for their plight, noting that the GOP has long been accused of using codes to convey affinity for segregationists. "As a black person who has been profoundly offended by the code-word racist politics, I would love for them to keep Lott," he said. I don't know any "code words". Do you know any "code words"?
Of course not. The "code words" are what minorities say they are. They can be most any words on any given day that are capable of being blown out of proportion to sow division among the races and within the GOP.
This is what we're up against, folks.

The Bryd racist comments were made to Tony Snow. FNC immediately presented Byrd's apologies and gave Bryd a pass.

Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky) is talking about censuring Byrd. I LOVE THIS GUY!

the national conversation on race... Huh? I would hardly consider politically motivated Dem race baiting to meet the above description. But then, I'm not a Dem.

Who said that it was wrong for Newt to say politics was "War without the bloodshed?"
This is gettin' good.

...................about damn time somebody took the offensive and got in these guys face.
If this were happening to, and during, the Klintoon Administration they would have had a team of talking heads on all the shows the next day obfuscating and changing the subject.
Anybody remember Sid Blumenthal?
How about Rham Emanuel?
Susan Estrich?
etc.etc.etc.

now let's use media logic here.....
white nigger....hmmmm that means white as opposed
to black right ? or an addendum to the always black nigger
....so Byrd meant his disdain for white niggers is louder
than black niggers which Byrd EXPECTS to act like
he thinks they do......the words "white nigger" cannot survive unless a "black nigger" is the attacks
primer base. Where in hell is the black outrage
or media outrage ?

What makes me ill over this is Stroms party was only covered live on CSPAN so only a few people even saw it.
I want a leader who will put little Tommy Daschle back in the hole he belongs in. Not some panderer like Lott!
What is amazing to me is the silence by both Byrd and Daschle. I think Daschle is silent because he wants Lott to stay since he knows he can pander to Lott while some other leader is not going to give him time of day.

About damn time.
Lott's biggest mistake was in apologizing. He should have called a press conference and said the following "The Democrats and the media are correct-the Senate needs to be cleaned up. Let's proceed in an orderly and chronological fashion. First, we'll address Byrd's KKK past and use of the N word on FNC, then we'll launch a thorough investigation into Ted Kennedy's leaving that young girl to drown, then we'll get around to me. Let me know when you're ready."
The "outrage" would have stopped right then and there. By apologizing he showed weakness and emboldened his enemies.
We need someone like Mitch who will play hardball. The Dems are at war with us and will stop at nothing-vote fraud, politics of personal destruction, etc...Never bring a knife to a gunfight.

So who among us is naive enough to think that the liberal media are going to stop the Lottfest and switch over to Byrd ??
It's not about Senate Lott. It's about embittered media elites who want to reverse the trend to conservativism in this country.

This is pure bullcrap. If McConnell had called for the Senate to censure Byrd when Byrd made the comments, then he would deserve credit. It does not take any cajones to call Byrd a bad man now. If he is going to lead, he needs to call on Lott to take a long walk on a short pier.
