Strange however how this virus is affecting so many hospitals in Canada and the cruise ship industry. Can't ever remember this in years past.
Also, the experts (CDC) refer to this as a "norwalk-type" virus! Unidentified as yet. Too weird.
And, from what you describe firsthand, not something I would want to get.

The only reason you're hearing about the cruise ships now if that US federal regs require them to report the illnesses if it affects a certain percentage or more of passengers and crew. It's happened before, just not this bad. That's not to say that someone couldn't be spreading this on purpose, but I suspect bad hygiene is more likely.

About 6 or 8 weeks ago (time slips by) I got very sick with heavy diarhhea (sp?) which I practically never get - didn't throw up but came darn close - totally out of it, also fever... had to run to toilet verrry frequently (and I do mean run!)/ Lasted on and off for weeks. I live in very rural SW Oregon, hubby got it too. No cruise ships or hospitals, in fact we're practically hermits. Was visiting friends on coast when I got it, had been travelling in OR.... Was a weird illness, not like regular stuff.... After a while I called up the local clinic (I had nights where I felt as though it was time to leave the body!) and they said a lot of people in the valley had it.

It is one of the most unpleasant illnesses I have ever dealt with. I still get "the creeps" remembering how sick we all were
