O'Neill Was No Longer On the Team (Rush alert!)
EIB ^ | 12/6/2002 | Rush Limbaugh

Posted on 12/07/2002 5:55:50 AM PST by geedee

I did not lead Friday's program with the news about Paul O'Neill because it's not that big a deal. It's been coming for a long time. Everybody knew it was going to happen after the election. He went off the reservation.

We interviewed him for the Limbaugh Letter a year ago, and back then he was on the money. It was a great interview in which he said some great things, but lately he's been besmirching tax cuts. He clearly hasn't been on the team. I don't know what's brought it about. I don't know if Bono got to him or what happened out there touring the desolate parts of Africa, but something changed.

In any event, looking at some of the names being floated - Phil Gramm, Bill Archer, there are some good possibilities out there. At the time of our broadcast, the hot rumor bouncing around Washington was Commerce Secretary Don Evans taking over for O'Neill. Regardless of how that plays out, the libs aren't going to be talking much about Paul O'Neill. Even Warren Christopher resigned. Lord Bentsen resigned. Every administration has resignations. Instead of making a big deal out of this, the liberals will be harping on the 6% unemployment number.

Get ready for the Sunday shows; because they're going to be harping on that big time, and it's going to replace Saddam and the UN inspectors. It's all going to be about 6% unemployment, the economy, and how Bush isn't doing anything about it and his economic team is falling apart, and blah, blah, blah, blah. This is going to be the theme of the Sunday shows, but the truth is that the firing of O'Neill and Lindsey is good news, and demonstrates that George W. Bush knows exactly what he's doing. He's in charge and we can expect a renewed push for more tax cuts directly from the Oval Office.

I knew I was toast when only 200 lemmings
showed up at the AFT convention in November.
At least I didn't wind up in the pokey like Traficant.

LOL! The silence on the big convention ( the one that could have been held at any Elks Lodge) is deafening.

Oh, yeah, this is great news! Now Bush will put someone in who will spout the party line about how tax cuts are what this economy needs. The "Economic Stimulus Package" they passed 18 months ago has certainly rocketed the economy, hasn't it? Karl Rove is betting that the overwhelming majority of the sheeple won't understand that Fundamental Tax Reform would do much more to stimulate the economy than another round of tax cuts. He certainly didn't want people like O'Neill and Lindsey on the team who so obviously understood it.

The sad part is that the Democrats are right on target with their criticisms of Bush's economic policies. Rove is banking on Bush's approval ratings holding up as a result of his foreign policy prowess. I seem to recall that strategy not working so well for the first Bush in the WH.

Phil Bush aint his father and do honestly think if Lee Atwater was running Bush's fathers 92 campaign he would have lost. Not to mention the 20 percent that Ross Perot took off the electoriate in a race decided by 6 points. His father quite simply didn't want the job anymore and he campaigned like it, remember the famous him looking at his watch after the last debate. He knew it was over. I think what always sat in his kids craw is the utterly disgusting person he lost to. A smooth talking rapist who made Nixon look like an honorable guy.

IF YOU WANT THIS MAN – AND MEN LIKE HIM – TO REMAIN IN CONTROL OF YOUR ECONOMIC AND PERSONAL DESTINY,

Gee, I was told voting for Republicans would do that.

IT’S ABOUT P O W E R AND C O N T R O L!!

And I'm to believe by signing some phony cyber petition that the government, let alone Republicans, will rid themselves of that power...and control?

Lee Atwater was a true genius, a kind man, a talented guitarist, and a man who sparked my interest in political consulting in a personal conversation years ago.

He would have prevailed in 1992. I miss him dearly now. What an asset he was.

Please share your REAL name with us so we'll be able to say we knew you when you hit the street with a weapon to lead the armed revolution you SEEM to feel is our only hope.

See your photo, complete with yellow tape and a chalk outline, in the paper soon, right?

That is my real name and those are your words, not mine.

I don't understand diarrhea of the mouth nor do I get your convoluted thinking, but, although it's not me, here's a photo I find appropriate.

Lee Atwater was a kind man? I went to high school with him and I have never heard him described in those terms.

No, "laid off" implies the position was eliminated.

O'Neill was FIRED.

There's a difference!

Mr. O'Neill should have been fired after the pic in post #4. Is there a full moon tonight?
