It seems everyone has been complacent for years, living in blissful ignorance and denial of the threat.

Living in the Matrix. I like to think the matrix cages that humanoids were held in (their electro stimulant cages) were a metaphor for the automobile. Which of course requires oil to run properly and is pretty effective at controlling or subduing the masses while they are stuck in rush hour traffic.

Don't forget, the Japanese killed more people with biological warfare (in China) than all nuclear weapons/accidents in history (including Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Chernobyl, ...etc.)

We foolishly have given up Bio/Chem. weapons programs. Now the Iraqis may even be ahead of us there, and all we have are nukes that we are afraid to use.

I would not be suprised if a similar situation existed in the USA as well.
IIRC, one of the females officials in Saddam's inner circle got some of here
education at the Universit of Missouri (at Columbia). I can't recall the exact
concentration of her work, but I think it was microbiology or closely related
life-science area.
