Russia's Missing Nukes at

Excerpts:
House Committee of National Security Allegations of Russia's Missing Suitcase Bombs
October 1-2, 1997
In September 1997, General Alexander Lebed made international headlines with his allegations that over 100 small atomic demolition munitions were missing from the Russian nuclear arsenal. He asserted that the weapons were perfect terrorist devices as they were designed to resemble an ordinary suitcase and could be detonated by a single person with less than 30-minutes preparation. Any one of them, he warned, could kill 100,000 people.

I guess that is their wimpy, shameless way of correcting their problem.

The problem is what to do if there is no major attack. Does Islam continue to spread? Is there any plan to contain it and convert it to something that actually is a Religion of Peace? Can a resurgence of Zoroastrism be engineered in Iran? Christainity in Africa? In general, the problem with Islam will not be solved until there is genuine religious freedom of choice in what is now the Islamic world. The people in those countries have to have the option of leaving Islam, or we will be back at this point - it will only be a matter of time, and not a long time.

Exactly. One reason it was a no-brainer to predict that basically nothing would happen due to teh Y2K bug was that our systems are too heterogenous for a single attack to take out everything. I'm sure that a nation with the resources, like China, might be looking for ways to mount a successful multiple attack based on security exploits and software viruses, but that is much less likely to succeed than the U.S. approach: Obliterate the power plants, substations, pumping stations, rail yards, airports, telephone exchanges, and key network nodes with bombs.

We not only would do no less, we did more. We supplied arms and food to our own armies, and those of most of our allies, including the Soviets. Of course it was a little easier for us, safe, more or less, behind the two largest oceans of the world, but it was also less urgent for the same reason. We were truly the Arsenal of Democracy (and other forms of government). I remember reading that we spent something like 40% of GNP on defense in 1944, the peak year. I also read that the Soviets spent something over 60% of their GNP on arms during WW2, but who knows what to believe about Soviet economics - I don't even think that they really knew.
I certainly believe that we would make a gargantuan effort if directly attacked in a big way on our own soil. I could see a draft, and armies in the millions being sent to the Mideast to first destroy all hostile forces and then occupy their countries for a long time - decades. I just hope that the Chinese stay within their own borders while we're busy elsewhere.
The lesson that the Japanese learned about not waking a sleeping giant and filling him with a terrible resolve may have to be retaught to our enemies.

This guy also has a PHd in B.S.
If you spell Usuquf backwards its FUQ USA.
It is a HOAX perpetrated by Escobar, a known USA and GW Bush basher.

Plenty plausible to me.
I suppose the naysaywers will think otherwise.

Uhhhh,
how much MORE evidence do you need to conclude decisively that it's from a
truly scary mastermind?
Seems to me the organization has been busy trying to provide plenty of such evidence for more than a decade.

Well put.

it would be just a question of time for the whole economic structure to be turned to dust That's where the plan falls apart. The economy might crash, but it won't turn to crap. All it would take is a few Executive Orders to stop the process, keep the basic food and fuel moving, and force everyone to sit and cogitate for a while. The FedGov has plenty of power, a surplus of power, a supernova of power to step in and control the situation. When they might decide it would be safe to step out and let the country resume its business is another question and we'll worry about that later when we don't all die from the crash.

Hmmmm. So Asia times now says the article is based on an interview now a hoax. Interesting.
Regardless, the scenario is not that far fetched from what AlQaeda might have authentically asserted.
They are certainly of that mentality. Some evidence indicates they are of that means. We shall see.

aculeus,
So, do I get your drift and construction on reality correctly?
. . . that is,
That you do NOT see AlQaeda as having shown any significant evidence to be of such a mentality over the last 10 years, including 911?
Or is it merely that you don't want to be annoyed with unpleasant potentials?

The particular article popped up on the atzland.net webpage again this week. There seemed to be some synchronicity amongst various socialist organized groups this last Tuesday or Wed to bring this topic back into the public forum, beginning last week with Hillary Clinton's attack on Bush for insufficient security on the Mexican border.
Substance of the accusations doesn;t appear to have changed for more than several years, but a synchronicity of disparate socialist groups seems to have hit within the last week.

there was more than just a bit of revenge involved in dropping the nukes on hiroshima and nagasaki. seems to me the US was leaving a strong message to the world not to try a surprise attack again.
i think taking out afghanistan and iraq for 9/11 was part of the same pattern. if they strike again, i am certain that the US will most definitively take our syria and iran. perhaps then they the ragheads will start to get the message...
