I don't think there is anything the need to shield in a cell-phone, for example. You are incorrectly assuming the entire bomb would be shielded. Ordinary electronics would not give a bomb away.

Still, the description of how such a bomb would be booby trapped sounds more like wishful thinking than anything AQ has demonstrated they can actually do. It is a big step from truck bombs and SAMs to nukes. Alas it is a much smaller step to bioweapons.

The simplest way to get around both the permissive action links (i.e. "trigger locks") and the initiator shelf-life issues is to scavenge the HEU from one or more bombs and build a gun-type bomb.

Easily done. run two wires through a small hole in the shield out to a relay triggered by the current to the speaker on the phone. It's now fully shielded and remotely triggerable. Any kid with a high school level of electronics could do it.

If I were in charge (which I’m not but humor me) I would solve this threat, real or delusional, simply enough.

If a single nuke ever goes off within the US or on any US territory, every Muslim capital would receive two nukes and, in addition, three cities (which shall remain nameless) on the Arab peninsula.

And that would not be a threat, it would be a promise. So show us how committed you are to total and permanent cultural suicide.

This is the obvious and best solution to interior terrorism and I have no doubt WILL happen the moment our cities begin vaporizing since we have no way of knowing for sure which Muslim is a terrorist and who isn't. Political correctness be damned when our loved ones are dying like flies.

However, such expulsions don't prevent the entry of nukes in containers at seaports and airports. Surely you must be aware containers sent to the eastern seaboard from places across the Pacific are intermodaled across the country without being examined. And vice versa. The only way to prevent all forms of WMD would be to screen every single container and erecting walls along the borders both the southern AND northern (despite being a Canadian - I have to be realistic - Canada is an Islamic terrorist's paradise).

In short, we're in trouble. the Western squamishness and outright hostility against Christian indoctrination and conversion has now placed all of our lives in danger. After all, which is preferrable, having Baptists, Quakers, Mormons or JW living among us or having fanatical Muslims who want to exterminate us? Would we be in this mess if the Middle East was Christian, Jewish, Hindu or Buddhist? Of course not. In short, we've been too nice. We've let them keep their barbaric beliefs and we're now going to be destroyed by them. They never would've tolerated us to exist in peace, and now that they have the capability of inflicting catastrophic casualties, they are actually going to go through with it. Why should they fear retaliation? Allah is on their side and is protecting them.

As evidenced by the stalled homeland security and utter idiotic kid gloves treatment of Islam and islamic sensibilities; there's NO doubt major American cities, especially Washington DC and New York are going to be devastated by WMD very soon. The crescendo of outright genocidal war is building and will soon be unstoppable.
