This is not sitting well with the family and community..calls are coming in about a car parked under that bridge this week. We will never believe that Chris ran away until it is proven.

Discernment tells me he didn't run away. Rather, foul play.

At least Chris is in the arms of a loving God and his parents know that, although away from them for a season, he truly will be all right until they meet again. Prayers for those who mourn.....

Police and neighbors searched the area surrounding the Dixon home at 2601 Gordon Road that evening with police dogs and bloodhounds Hmmm, seems those bloodhounds would have been able to follow his scent if he walked there.

I think what's not being said is that the boy was in a car and jumped to his death escaping.
At least that's how it looks to me.

That poor boy. I'm sorry about this.
That the boy died accidentally is believable. The overpass is not far away, and he died from falling injuries. The boy probably knew about the construction site and visited there before.
Kids do weird things. He was 13, and boys start to change at that age. Maybe he started doing more roaming around the woods? Maybe he saw a movie recently that got him inspired to do adventurous things? Who knows?
What I'm saying is that you don't have to think the boy ran away to think he ended up at that overpass on his own. From what has been said, there doesn't seem to be any good reason to think that a crime was committed here either.

I will be praying that the truth about this boy's death will soon be known. I wonder why Rankin is so adamant about "accidental"...before all the facts are known. It seems all possibilities should be considered and leads followed NOW before too much time passes. Too many trails can go cold if this death is misclassified and turns out later to be murder.

The Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Chapel Hill could not say how long Christopher had been dead, partly because of the bad weather since his Oct. 24 disappearance, Rankin said. I know that the temperature can have an impact, but you can get that info from the weather reports and adjust for that. I find it strange that they are not even able to calculate a range of time. (Caveat - my knowledge base is stale, and there are many folks who post on here who have more relevant knowledge. Some of the folks on the Westerfield/Van Dam threads seemed to know what they were talking about (FresnoDA?)). The family should probably have the autopsy report reviewed by a qualified pathologist. I don't think that they should look at it themselves, however.
But police think he was "most possibly" running away from home, partly because a witness saw him running into the woods near his home, Tate said.
Relevant but not conclusive info.
