Dems Increase Turnout Effort Again

WASHINGTON -- Democrats are working to repeat their aggressive voter turnout effort of 2000, while Republicans are countering with a campaign they acknowledge tries to match the successful face-to-face strategy used by the AFL-CIO.
"We have experienced grass-roots veteran organizers on the ground," said Donna Brazile, who is heading up the voter turnout efforts for the Democratic National Committee. "We have the best technology we've ever had, our ground operation is fully funded, we have gas in our vans, gas in our trucks, we have literature for our churches."
Republicans, in a 72-hour task force, are stepping up their focus on personal contact with potential voters that they started in the 2000 presidential campaign.
"The Bush campaign started the new emphasis on grass-roots in 2000 and we are building upon their success and it will continue to grow in the coming years," said Blaise Hazelwood, political director at the Republican National Committee. "It places the emphasis on real people talking to their friends and neighbors, while empowering them with the tools they need to be effective."
Neither the Republicans nor the Democrats would talk about the amount of money they plan to spend on the effort. Democrats are getting help from the estimated $35 million being spent by the AFL-CIO to bring out the vote.

This is why we need poll watchers and challengers. In my state (CALL 1-866-MIGOP-02) we need challengers and poll watchers with cameras to stop this stuff.

Is there a similar effort for Indiana, now that Carson is walking out of the debates because she can't be in the same room as a Republican (which of course makes one wonder how she can sit in Congress)? McVey is almost even with her, and the gloves are probably coming off. We NEED coverage in the urban districts! (IN-07 just got gerrymandered to include some HEAVILY GOP areas... we've got a shot, here!)

I don't think challenges are the answer.
The dems have been extremely effective in getting out their base. Us pubbies on the other hand are embarrassed about our base.
The moderate pub's don't know what to do about the conservative Christians who number in the millions. They write them off.....not ONE effort has been made to rally them. Not one message has been sent to conservative pastors that they will be protected from frivolous lawsuits for mentioning politics from their pulpits.
The greatest strength of Ronald Reagan was the "whispering campaign" that was generated by the conservative churches. It is the thing MOST feared by the Democrats and the reason they immediately moved LEGALLY AGAINST the churches once the Rats regained power.
We fight get out the vote efforts with get out the vote efforts. But not if you're embarrassed by your base.

Thank you for this email. We also saw this quote and were similarly concerned. But in order to take any kind of action, we need to evaluate the content of this "literature" and we can only turn in churches, not the DNC. If the literature is simply: "Go out and vote in this election; it's very important," then it's legal. But if it encourages people to vote for Democratic candidates, then it is not. Do you have a copy of their fliers?
Sincerely,
Donya Khalili

I can't work November 5th so I'm off in about an hour to do poll watching for early voting. I hope to get a few hours Friday, too. It's not as exciting and busy as election day, but every little bit counts.

In miami and broward they have been busing in the african american votes for early voting. There was a tv clip which showed a line that was primarily african americans early voting. (I am assuming they were US citizens)
Since 92% of african americans vote democrat no matter what, this get out the black vote strategy works for democrats.
my concerns:
1. The use of unlicensed DNC lawyers as intimidation in polling places? Unless they are assigned and certified pollwatchers they are not allowed in the polling places. You have to be a florida lawyer to represent anyone in florida. How many DNC lawyers flying in are FL licensed?
2. Provisional ballot fraud: Vote early provisionally. Vote often provisionally. Since the voter may not be on the ballot what is to stop a provisional person from voting in multiple locations? You only need ID or another to give a sworn affidavit as to the person claiming the right to vote.
3. Absentee fraud: felons have recieved a record number of ballots this year after promises to clean up. Some of these may be new felons.
4. Indian Tribe factor: Just as in SD we have a large indian tribe here. The tribe leadership is corrupt and full of casino money.
5. MORE lawsuits. need I say more....
(actually if anstead looses his seat at the supreme court that will send the best message to him and other judges)

Donna Brazile, who is heading up the voter turnout efforts for the Democratic National Committee.
She is also head of the vote fraud division. She is the one who said she can make up 8% deficit in any campaign. She is the one behind the blacks were intimidated by Jeb in 2000 miami raido campaign.
