This is two eerie for words. Frist Carnahan in 2000, now Wellstone? What is it with Democrat senators in hotly contested/losing races? Eerie.......

I can't say I take any pleasure in the death of a wicked man, but being from Missouri, and with my dusty, under-used tin-foil hat on, I also can't help but wonder if this is a new tactic for the Demoncrat party in close races to hold on to Senate seats.

Cordially,

Needless to say, I pray for Wellstone's surviving children.

When Wellstone first was elected Senator, he made the comment he would only seek two terms. And, of course, once the two terms were up he again decided to run. Guess the decision was now made for him not to return to the Senate.

As far as liberal Democrats are concerned, he was one of the MOST liberal. He has two sons; does anyone want to bet that one of them will replace him on the ballot.

Sorry folks---my FreeRepublic seems to have also also crashed right after I posted this.

Yes--Wellstone is dead. Prayers go out to his surviving family.

His wife and daughter also killed. A Democrat on the AP Breaking News site says that DNC is confident they can put a replacement on the ballot.

No word yet on whether Gov Jesse Ventura has come out with a statement about an appointment.

Also, Wellstone mourned by his old college where he was a professor.

"Paul was the first 1960's radical to be elected to the Senate."
